šŸ”¶ Audeze LCD 2 Pre Fazors

Wanted to jump in here and give a bit more thoughts since Iā€™ve had it for a longer time and also been listening to it on the Liquid Platinum. Overall Iā€™ve noticed that the headphone can be pretty forward and fun with the LP. In particular the bass as vocals stand out like crazy, canā€™t help but be listening to hip hop or kpop and just be vibing to the bass. Itā€™s super fun and has the slam quality that is addictive. Vocals are much more forward where it makes the music super engaging to me. The timbre and tonality certainly are amazing, just a great thing to experience when listening to ballads etc. If something I guess something that is note worthy is that now with the LP as opposed to the hiby where the sound is a bit more anemic in comparison the lcd 2 is so luscious and THICC that it dosent particularly stand our for instrumental music as much. Itā€™s also possible that without a better dac itā€™s not as precise as it is when paired with the hiby but I mean wow. It feels like there are layers upon layers of detail now. Absolutely love it. Treble is great, and fitting for @Veritas music. Man I donā€™t know if thereā€™s anything else to say really, I guess itā€™s just it really brings music to life and gives both a crazy fun experience with some hip hop, kpop and also brings an AMAZING experience she has listening to emotional songs, classical, ballads etc. The detail is really interesting too.

Also not saying it as dynamic as the elex nor anything of the kind BUT the dynamics on the LCD are very impressive and just noice

Need some advice on pads, i got a used pair of LCD 2 (not sure if they are fazors or not), the original pads are peeling off, and im thinking of replacing them with dekoni Choise leather. has anyone had any experiance with these? or any other suggestions.

i would love to go with the pads from Audeze themself, but the shiping to my country is almost the same price as the pads. The best Shipping + Pad price i got is from B&H.

I use the factory pads butā€¦If you are not sure about whether you have fazors or not, I believe if you run your finger or thumb from top to bottom on the cloth over the driver (inside the pad) and feel points or ridges then they are fazoredā€¦ If you only feel a flat plate with slots then you do not have them

A stupid question,
Can you convert a non fazor in a fazor?
What is the advantage and disadvantage of the fazor?
Would interest me times because I ordered mkr the Classic and the price difference to the other Lcd 2 is still a bit lush.

I believe the only way to convert would be to send them to Audezeā€¦ some prefer the original and some prefer the fazors. I have heard both and prefer the pre fazor for its sound. Their are still some pre fazor out there in the wild so to speak. I would honestly say I am not really experienced enough to be so bold as to describe accurately the differences. I do however believe the Fazor smooths out the sound. whereas the pre has more slam to it. You just have to decide whether you want the older vs newer for yourself. Others could describe it better.

Afaik, people have tried but they destroy the headphone. Essentially you need to completely replace the drivers with new ones in order to covert from prefazor to fazor so I would only recommend it if a driver fails

you are correct, they do have ridges, i did some googling and found a audeze page that if the serial number starts with 54 they will be fazors. thanks for the suggestion. can you suggest some pads as well.

The pads on mine are still like new although they were probably replaced at some time as they are Pre fazor 2.1sā€¦ Extremely well cared for by the previous owner as there is not a mark on them. I do not see having to change these for a long time as I enjoy them very much but they only really get little use as my schedule does not allow the time. Also I have nearfield monitors as well as many other headphones, E-stats and IEMs that get used. Perhaps others could advise you better. .Personally I would probably stick with the OEM as to not change the sound ā€¦ Also do not necessarily go by the serial as there are some that have that but are non fazoredā€¦ For instance mine starts with 56 but is clearly non fazor.

Youā€™re lucky, my previous owner took care of them and the area that touches my head is fine, but the ring attaching the pad to the driver is peeling off the pad and just deteriorating like an old leather jacket.

And yes you are right about the serial number this is exaclty what they said

"Any LCD-2s with serial number starting with 54 or higher should have Fazors. Any starting with 53 (and a few starting with 56 from the early days) will be a pre-Fazor model unless the drivers were serviced after the beginning of Fazor production, which began in January 2014.

Any LCD-3s with serial number starting with 27 or higher should have Fazors. Any starting with 26 will be a pre-Fazor model unless the drivers were serviced after the beginning of Fazor production, which began in January 2014.

To the best of our knowledge, all LCD-Xs and LCD-XCs should have Fazors installed, since those headphones were launched at the beginning of Fazor production in January 2014.

The best way to check for sure is to feel for the Fazors inside the earcup: if you feel a flat metal stator plate with openings in it under the mesh, your headphones have no Fazors; if you feel the tips of triangles, those are the Fazors themselves."

That ring is actually a part of the pad and if you buy new pads from Audeze the ring will be covered with leather.

Iā€™d highly recommend authentic Audeze leather pads. Theyā€™ll last a long time if cared for and theyā€™re pretty dang nice. Edit out of stock, that sucks.

Unfortunate about your padsā€¦I also saw they are out of stock at Audezeā€¦I am sure there are other pads that would work but not sure which would be bestā€¦ Just curious how The name is spelled on your headphonesā€¦ For instance mine say Audezā€™e not Audeze

Edit: If you have not done so I would also get the new style headbandā€¦ Quadruples the comfort definitely!! and if you can get the replacement pads you will seriously have a new headphone that could easily be your end game cansā€¦ Takes about 3 minutes to change the band but the pads are a little more involvedā€¦

Mine says Audeze, also the original pads are 80$ + 66$ for shipping  I could get the Dekoni pads for 62$ shipped.

but you know what, itā€™s better to keep it original, I feel like it has more value to it. I will wait patiently till my wallet is patch up again, then go for the original pads. I might go for the band as well.

As I said It will make a huge difference in the comfortā€¦ Mine came with the original band which I still have but the new one just makes it so much better for long term comfort. Good idea waiting on the OEM pads.
Good luck on your journey to musical Nirvana!!
