I’m going to regret posting in this thread, minds aren’t going to be changed.
But I think anyone playing with expensive cables whether interconnects or speaker cables, is really just trying to refine something they already love. No cable is going to fix an equipment chain.
IME cables affect sound, whether that’s a win or worth the expense or not is like everything else personal preference.
And of course the usual why does anyone care what someone else is spending their money on, no one on here is recommending someone go out and spend 100’s on interconnects or speaker cables.
Crossed at this video and found it rather interesting, so I decided to share it.
I don’t agree 100% with their conclusion, but I think Jay made a good point about having reliable and measurable standards, and how this is missing in a lot of these “good cable manufacturers”.
Capacitance and resistance can make a small but sometimes audible difference. Like really small. Whether one cable is better than another is a bit of a stupid argument IMO.
Because:
If you’re looking for ultimate true to source reproduction, unless you’re A/Bing with the live performance, you don’t know which cable is truer.
If you’re looking for a tweak to suit to taste, it’s infinitely more productive to buy an EQ.
