Beating kids who learn their behaviour from their parents and environment that they are raised in?, yeah…I’m sure that’ll work out well as we all know that the more you beat someone then the more compliant they become.

The Caning is in response to Bullying, an anti-bullying measure?
If parents or someone in their environment is encouraging bullying directly or indirectly, maybe it would go unnoticed in school at times, but later in life they will get beat up by people who won’t take it silently. Better to curb that from young.

I can see the logic and when I was at school in the 80’s perhaps I would have encouraged the use of such a treatment against the school bully but it does not work (show me a study where it has been shown a positive outcome and I’ll happily read it) , I fear it will only further a feeling of isolation and resentment which will fester away in the child.

i dont see what’s not to get, Bullying is wrong no matter what, Caning/belt etc instills discipline, discipline is a positive outcome in Indian culture at least, pretty much for asian and even african culture i’m sure.
