Reach out to Hifigo
Several dudes on here were in the same spot
You have to become a hoo wa (whore) to keep it going
They will pay you though so it’s not being a whore it’s more like a prostitution

But I like being an unpaid slut for audio gear. Getting paid ruins the fun lol. I guess the benefits package is maybe worth it for the early releases but also I have a feeling I’d get blacklisted pretty quick the second a raging pile of shit comes my way and I tear it apart a little too hard.

My DM with Yumu is always free to share
They have particular sets that are important and it shows.
If Crinear was run in the same way I never would have sniffed Monolith ( I really didn’t like Reference)
Crin knows what I like. Everything he makes isn’t aimed at me
People need to appreciate him more than they do. He runs a solid business
And he probably knows you will still give it a fair review without trashing it if you happen to not like it. More companies should realise that (but they are probably looking for the sweet sweet glaze).
You devalue your assets
Reviewers are assets
If they are viewed as water boys or simps because you punish them by denying access or slowing it you devalue your own assets and damage your business
Moondrop did that
Dunu did it as well
Penon is infamous for it
It’s stupid short sighted and isn’t what a company with long term plans does
Moondrop came in here and said I didn’t like them because they stopped sending me stuff
I pointed out that 60% of my Moondrop videos were hype and….paid for ALL of them
They touched the topic of access control showed how they moved and well … they were wrong

Dumpster brand
I can still remember that screenshot from a HeadFi ‘review’ of a Penon product someone posted here some time ago. That was cringe.
I know a few people who fell out with Penon then struggled with content and reconnected with Penon and everything was great. I mean everything they reviewed from Penon was GREAT ![]()
When Linsoul was born Penon aggressively tried to get exclusive contracts with everyone else and crush Linsoul. They said they would stop selling items if Linsoul wasn’t black listed
That alone is enough for me to not want to buy anything from Penon. People who use that kind of underhanded tactic when dealing with competitors will not hesitate to do so with customers either IMO. They should have invested that energy in building a better website; I feel theirs would have fit in nicely with MySpace in its heyday ![]()
That is something indeed. Would not be surprised to learn they have a separate site for all the glazers ![]()
Edit: gave it a try and got the exact same response. It says that there is something hogging resources on the Penon server…
I hope they get ddosed.
Finally got in. The trick was to add ABG to the URL, as in Always Be Glazing (just kidding of course
)
Had that one in the back of my mind. Classic.
I think Brise makes the 2 best earphones in the world ![]()
Ibuki has better bass than the Fugaku
Will Ibuki get a dedicated vid?
i just remembered it got metal shell and even the Dual Opposed 8mm DDs are in a metal ring. but Bass is still strong?
I am reaching out to this community because I am incredibly frustrated by the personal politics and gatekeeping currently impacting my experience in the high-end audio hobby. Over the last few years, I have invested thousands of dollars into this industry, supporting both mainstream kilobuck releases and esoteric, independent brands. Recently, I acquired a 711 artificial ear coupler to contribute independent measurements to the community. Despite my financial support and passion for the hobby, I have been systematically excluded from the primary community spaces and industry events.
My issues stem entirely from a prominent community figure—frequently recognized simply as a professional “Listener” across major platforms—and his employer, which represents one of the largest corporate entities in the portable audio space. Following an ideological disagreement on social media, where my personal Facebook account was unfortunately linked to my Discord identity, I was abruptly and permanently banned from the two largest IEM and headphone Discord servers.
The enforcement was handled without any prior warnings, timeouts, or transparent communication. Even after having supported one of these major servers (associated with a prominent industry tuner) on Patreon for over a year—which granted a dedicated supporter badge—the ban was executed instantly. Moderators on the server later confirmed that no official reason or violation was ever logged for the restriction.
This situation extends beyond online chat rooms. I am an audio enthusiast in my 40s who deals with physical mobility challenges, navigating daily with a cane due to multiple surgeries. Despite this, the influence of this single “Listener” has resulted in a blanket ban from regional audio meetups and major industry trade shows. I discovered I was barred from attending CanJam NYC via an email from leadership the very afternoon before the event, resulting in lost ticket expenses and a total lockout from meeting fellow hobbyists. Furthermore, when attempting to set up an independent measurement database via the standard SquigLink platform, my correspondence with administration ceased entirely once my real-world handle was disclosed.
It is deeply discouraging to see an industry-wide event and public data utilities gatekept by a few individuals over personal or ideological biases. This level of exclusion is entirely unnecessary in a hobby that should be centered around a shared love for music and gear.
Moving forward, I intend to continue voting with my wallet, focusing my support on independent brands, and sharing my 711 coupler data through alternative, open-source channels and independent forums that value objective discussion over community politics. I welcome connections with any like-minded enthusiasts who are focused strictly on the audio, the data, and the music.
<3 love you. See this is the love I was looking for, and the resources. Those dudes are ruthless, and if u don’t toe their line, you are verboten and blanket banned. It is pretty ridiculous how sad some of these reviewers are. I am a nobody in this hobby, yet I feel like I am being clamped down on for idealogical differences, despite wanting to share measurements of sets like the Myth and Lumen which don’t have the most measurements out there. I am sure someone would like to see this stuff when I am done, but the SquigLink thing is kinda F’ed…..Yeah…..Didn’t see that coming.
