Trust me you wouldn’t want to be a local in my country, though I am extremely lucky to be able to have some funds to play with for audio gears.
From memory, the notch was quite a nuisance but I was able to fit the thing deep enough that it dug up some… let’s say “waste” in my ears. Thankfully the audio store provides alcohol wipes FOC.
Yes, the pricing policy for the sales startup was a bit strange by keephifi and AliExpress seller if I am to be honest.
But after buying them for 66 bucks and Zeros for 50 I cannot complain this hobby is all about waiting for a new set (cable, tips, dongle whatever!) to arrive.
Ah sad news for me. I’m not immediately captivated by Z1R. I guess I’m midbass/low-mids kinda guy. Bass is not overwhelming for my tastes. The first thing I notice is how distant the vocals are.
Sometimes there’s sibilance or cymbals sound harsh. But fit is quite ok, weight isn’t bad. 30 mins and still comfortable.
Any tracks that I should try that’ll show Z1R’s strength?
The mids are the weak link, especially vocals. Now the bass I find out of this world. The slam and texture are top notch. But if you cannot connect with its bass and treble, it’s a lost cause.
Yeah I think finally understand bass texture. Radioactive (Imagine Dragons) is a treat. Guitars sound great. Listening to Stevie Ray Vaughn🎵
I can get why this set is such a gem. But it definitely isn’t the final stop for me. I think I can grab this and sth like Yume for the meantime.
UM bone conduction IEMs are a whole different beast. I’m waiting for an update🙏
2: trying Elysian Annihilator as a fellow countryman. Top-tier technicalities, more balanced than Z1R but bass is not as epic. Could be one’s endgame for EDM. Best replay so far for Bury the Light. I just love how synths sound with these.
I would use PayPal, but anytime I move it seems to screw them up for about 6 months, and I am in that window right now. I can fix it, but that call takes time, and it isn’t worth the small amount of money ( $10 ) that I would save.
I totally agree with your take, it served as the gateway to better headphones for a ton of people. I feel the same way about Skullcandy, since they got people to spend more, it just raised their expectations. I have a few friends that I managed to get to on better gear after they had one of those two brands of headphones. Bad headphones, but great for the audio gear business in general.
