Spam used to mean a wholesome meaty ingredient for a meal, now it just means some tw*t posting crap you don’t want to receive via the internet.

I’ve read somewhere that the Monty Python sketch that Drefbal posted is actually the reason why spam is used in that way.

I’m sorry but I have to tell yall about this because it’s quite relevatory in terms of being a simple, cheap, effective upgrade of sound quality.

Many of you know - a good, proper and clean power supply is the heart of any good sound system, and this includes IEMs. Plugging your dongle into the laptop increases power but decrases cleanliness of sound compared to plugging into smartphone - and vice versa.
With a power bank though, you get the best of both worlds - both power and cleanliness.

Sharge Flow Power Bank (currently 60% off)

What is awesome about this particular power bank is that it has a unique “low-current mode” that reduces the power output to a lower, consistent current suitable for small devices such as IEMs. It results in a more stable voltage and current supply, minimizing further electrical noise or ripple that might otherwise degrade audio quality. Also preserves battery life naturally.

It’s the size of a credit card and I have mine sorta joined together with my dongle in a neat little package.

Superb buy and a complete no-brainer for anyone in this hobby really.

Hit me up if anyone has a lonely left-side kiwi ears Punch laying in a box somewhere

Worth a shot

Mind taking more pics of it since u got it opened?

Micro volt or, even better, nano volt noise (ripple peak to peak) should be the target for audio. Once you’ve heard the lack of noise, it’s hard to go back, but it’s difficult to identify while it’s there…remove it and it becomes quite apparent that it is gone.

Unfortunately, USB battery output circuits simply aren’t designed with low ripple in mind as charging a phone really doesn’t care if the noise is in the hundreds of millivolt range regarding ripple.

USB battery packs certainly have a place and most definitely win for power per gram of weight but when sound quality is the primary goal look for a power supply spec’d in the uV or nV range.

The low current aspect of the marketing is one way to go I guess but really doesn’t have much substance. It’s power that matters more for charging and the ability to negotiate the highest voltage and thus the most power transfer over small gauge wires (higher voltage increases efficiency of power delivery by reducing loss).

Current delivery is the result of what the device being charged asks for or demands combined the power supplies ability to deliver it. Citing a low current mode really doesn’t say anything useful from a performance perspective without showing the measurements of noise and in particular showing a reduction in noise in low current mode. They kind of missed the boat here.

Hope this helps educate others on how power transfers from one device to another and what to look for depending on your goals.

Recently I purchased a very affordable LHY battery powered ultra low noise 12V (also available in 5V) supply that has proven to be an absolutely stellar value and compete with some ‘high-end’ dedicated power supplies at vastly higher price points. Its measures in the single digit micro volt range. Keep in mind that just touching the insulation of the charge cable will change the ripple so don’t get too caught up in the difference between a few microvolts and trying to achieve nanovolt levels. The juice isn’t worth the squeeze here but going from 10s-100s of millivolts to a few microvolts is rather significant.

It just so happens the footprint of the LHY is nearly perfect for the DX340 to sit on top and serve as a heat sink running super gain mode. The LHY produces no measurable heat delivering up to 2A @ 12V. I just whipped up a couple Kydex pieces that serve to ‘cradle’ the 340 to the LHY.

One source for the LHY 12V: Pardon Our Interruption... ~$140USD is the going rate.

That’s a huge ass DD lol.

It looks average to me. It aint one of those “TWS” style DDs at least.

10mm… not the largest magnet but it’s hard to tell the strength from a picture. Funny enough the best tightest bass I’ve ever heard from 1DD was this thang: HT10-C - HUAYUNXIN AUDIO

Stepped on?
How did that happen?

I might have a “L” side. I have a couple pre release sets I’d have to find and it looks different

Damn I hope you weren’t wearing them when that happened? :grimacing:

@yogurt was kind enough to lend me his Punch a few months ago. I didn’t do a good enough job of packaging them when I shipped them back to him. The guys that work in my local Post Office are arseholes. I wouldn’t put it past them to stomp on it, but still, the one time I didn’t package something robustly… it was on me.

The set shown crushed was because of shipping?
That’s not your fault but I can see why you feel responsible.
If folks in the P.O. are dicks it doesn’t matter how well you wrapped it.
They literally drop kick shit and get caught on Ring cams doing nuts stuffs.
Low wage workers got a lot of rage in em it appears

I will try to take more photos tonight! :face_with_monocle:

Fortunately, nothing serious! Just a shipping issue

That would be amazing! No worries about the looks, it’s the sound that matters! :fire: Please do let me know if you have something laying around you’d be willing to let go of.

@Go-Kart was of course an absolute gentleman and I quickly had the pair replaced  So fortunately, I wasn’t long without my Punch. Now I’m hoping I can find a replacement L side so the R isn’t wasted. A close friend of mine really liked this set too, so the plan is to gift this to them if I can get hold of a lonely L :crossed_fingers:

Side note, I told my missus about the motivational aspects of getting badges on Apple Watches and she instantly jibbed her Garmin by taking advantage of Amazon Prime Day and has bought an Apple Watch …no doubt further making me jealous of my lack of badges!
