Dang well the cayin + ares is most likely the better bang for buck combo, that has pretty good synergy with the auteur imo, should be very fun
Oh man, hmmm. I would personally pick the clear, mainly because of it’s better resolution, superior dynamics, and better stage depth. The auteur does have more organic impact and timbre, and does have a bit wider stage, but personally the aspects of the clear better suit my preferences. I guess it depends on what type of classical music you listen to. For more grand, complex, and layered pieces I would pick clear, for more smaller group or soloist and vocalist I would end up going for the auteur. Although for my personal preferences I would choose the clear, I personally find it’s capability more satisfactory when it comes to spatial recreation and dynamics (which I would really value for orchestral), but some might like the slightly more forgiving (the clear can sound slightly raw on poor recordings where the auteur won’t be as unpleasant with lesser quality recordings) and richer/more full and a bit more accurate timbre of the auteur imo, and the auteur might sound larger as well too. This is given the headphones are paired with electronics I like with each of them (so bf2 + rnhp for the clear and cayin + ares for the auteur), I wouldn’t really be disappointed with either though for this use case lol
