Saber 3 :

Timbre 9/10

Transients 7.7/10
Soundstage 8.7/10
Images 7.6/10
Bass 8.7/10
Mids 8.9/10
Treble 6.8/10
Male vocals 8.9/10
Female vocals 7.9/10
Resolution 6.9/10
Separation and layering 6.7/10

Recommended genre - metal

Powerful, well-textured sound with plenty of warmth , good driver speed and dymanics. The soundstage has good depth, but lacks width a bit. The guitars are presented excellently with good “bite” and very good timbre. The drums are well textured, with good double pedals and tireless cymbals.
Wins over SA6 MK2 for metal by a small margin! :face_in_clouds:

Recommendations: a little better layering, separation and resolution of the instruments in some future releases will make these buds a killer kilo buck!!! But I personally like it for pure musical pleasure! Good job.
I highly recommend :star: :star: :star: :star:

Welcome to the dark side of buds - you will never purchase an IEM again without spending atleast a day in some existential audio crisis questioning it’s timbre, soundstage & price to performance value.

Yes. I started to doubt more of my IEMs. All this looks to me like something written by Sartre…

PENON VOLTAGE

The earphone shell use medical grade resin, light and beautiful, comfortable to wear.

The universal mold structure has higher reliability and provides better wearing experience.

Introduction of Voltage 2 Dynamic Drivers

The two independent 8mm Dynamic Drivers use fiber composite biofilms plus flexible hanging edge diaphragms. The characteristics of the high damping of biofilms ensure that the Dynamic Drivers will not produce additional resonance due to split vibration at medium and high frequencies, and at the same time bring smooth and natural timbre features.

Honestly…I expected a lot more from the hype 4. Interesting tonality but the body of the sound is thinner than I would like.
Its detail or resolution is decent but nothing that can be considered to be highlighted.
I don’t consider the scene on the x axis very wide.
He’s lost that depth in the Hype 2 scenario.
At least it’s pretty but for me the price should be €250-€300 maximum.
I will continue doing tests but for me in that sub500€ iems fight:
Holocene>FH9=OH5>Quintet>Mp145>Doscinco>Hype 4.

$1200…well that’s definitely a choice

A little more fuel for the fire

So much for the tuning. Performance also matters, apparently.

So…the isobaric DDs in the hype series - does it make any difference or is it just marketing?

I find the 2DD in the Hype 4 to have some of the best quality bass I’ve experienced. Uniquely textured and impactful in a way I’ve not experienced before. If I could have this sort of bass with even more sub bass and slightly more midbass (preference) I would be done in the hobby. To me, it’s definitely not just marketing and the smartest buy if you care about your wallet

It’s not a scam. When I bought my Hype2s and tried them for the first time, I immediately felt the qualities of the “isobaric” bass-double dynamics. I prefer to call it a dual dynamic. So it’s true about improving the quality of the bass department. The rest depends on the tuning.

Measures extremely similar to the canpur cp622b:

Voltage looks the better of the 2 with Penon’s 6-7k sibilance dip and more treble past 8 k :yum:

I was thinking that of the Canpur, a bit more even handed, with a good dip to the baseline at 6.5. I’m not a fan of the several decibel 3-4 khz suck out. I think it pulls the stage back too much, I prefer the more intimate approach with maybe even a slight peak there.

Not having heard the two impossible to judge as our ears will ultimately decide what the better tuning for sure.

Hope to get a chance one day for both.
