It isn’t just you! On days like that, I usually take the time to look for something new or bop around my library for things I don’t listen to very often. I usually find something that hits the spot eventually!
Edit: I never have that issue with sources though, it’s almost always just music and sometimes the transducer I thought I wanted to hear that day.
Oh shit, that was a bad typo. It was supposed to be transducer instead of source. I am the last person in the world to have a mood for a particular source if you know what I mean
That happens to me all the time, it really is dependent on mood and time of day for me. The only IEM I can always enjoy is the Monarchs but outside of them, it’s hit or miss honestly. Music is the same thing but 2 fold. Some days I want to listen to Wu-Tang and Kendrick, others I wanna listen to Just Mustard and Crumb, you just never know until you know!
Not sure what kind of band you boys are putting together but can this one join? might add a little sumthin’ sumthin’ every now and again…
Dude, absolutely! Is that a Sitar by chance? If so, that is one of my favorite instruments in the world.
Yeh…I edited the post and added an extra pic. Been a good friend over the years…
I am incredibly jealous. That is a beautiful instrument, my friend. The sound that comes from that thing is euphoric.
Strangely, I feel more apprehensive to post a picture of it than I ever would be of my face, such as it is. But did so in the spirit of sharing so hopefully it doesn’t mind. Resonating strings produce a nice ethereal quality
Respect to the vocalists, the unseen instrument and in a way the first one. Something I wish I could do better but alas I just keep it to the bathroom so as not to make anyone else suffer me…
Thanks. Well, it’s all I can do, so I admire everyone who can play an instrument. (Well, I am our third-string drummer. Can play basic beats with a few fills. :))
Mate - you inspired me to get my sitar out of storage / gotta have been 12 years since I played
Super cool instrument - though also super difficult to get properly good.
That’s awesome…its not something I’d normally ever show so it truly makes my day to hear that.
Some instruments are difficult to start (some fretless ones) but easier later and then others are easy to start but difficult to get good on. Sitar firmly falls in the latter.
If you wanted any exercises, let me know and I can send you some of my old notes.
Truly awesome, man - respect!
What a gorgeous instrument. Beautiful sound, too, I’m sure!
It has a nice tone (even if I say so myself) despite being medium grade. If you’ve ever held a highly crafted instrument, that’s had a few years for the sound to bed in through the wood…well…no words of mine can do justice to that experience so I won’t try. tmi alert* it’s a whole other culture unto itself too and for a time it was everything. I envy those who find (peace in the) balance between life and music but will be forever grateful for the friends, teacher, opportunities it gave me.
I was in the middle of replying to this before the one above. Reading your profile desc, it reminded me of my friend’s husband. He was in a local cover band that played across the area, runs a rock school now for the (mainly) kids across the region. Calmest, nicest family man I ever met…but on stage…absolute baller rocker…the band and crowd all having a good time…live music = good times
As Spicoli would have said about your friend’s husband, “I know that dude.”
Yeah, that’s me. I like to put on a show as a front man. Full interaction, lots of movement. But when the musicians in the band are ready to rip, I get the hell out of there – literally leaving the stage sometimes – so they get their deserved spotlight.
I absolutely love the music and instrument discussion that took place here, boys. Thanks to all that contributed
Just wanted to drop in here and say a very special happy birthday to 1/2 of my favorite robot geniuses; Guy-Manuel De Homem-Christo //^\\
The robot turns 50 today
to one of the greats
Criminally underrated OST by Daft Punk, another album that I’ve lost count of the times i’ve listened…time to put on a few tracks again this evening
I absolutely agree. For their first go at making an OST, I think the Robots absolutely knocked it out of the park. I remember watching TRON Legacy in IMAX all the way back in 2010 with one of my buddies who also shared a love for daft punk. We came to see the robots on the big screen, but stayed for the story, characters and visuals.
Call me crazy, but I really enjoy that movie.
