Apple placed the patent 2 years ago as a precautionary placement given that Nextsense were/are pioneering this tech and they are Stanford/Google derived. Their patent regarding EEG use was granted in 2023 also. They are now pushing for treatment options through the device which is a further step to anything apple have looked at.
But this is solely a medical sensor for defined health purposes not exactly reading minds. I wouldn’t worry to much - especially if you reside in Europe where data handling is heavily regulated.
EEG-powered buds are definitely the next frontier, and it’s exciting to see how companies like Nextsense and now Tone are pushing boundaries! The idea of improving sleep with real-time insights is fascinating—imagine pairing that with personalized soundscapes for relaxation or focus. As for Apple, it’s no surprise they’re in the mix, but their approach seems more cautious compared to Nextsense’s deeper dive into medical applications. Honestly, I’m curious about how these innovations will balance effectiveness with comfort, I mean I love the tech, but if I’m going to sleep with earbuds, they’d better feel invisible!
Sadly no matter where you are based…as long as you have any digital footprint we are somewhat compromised… i mean there not really much that we can avoid.
