i assume the Loki has itās own static value of that since its hardware based
one hardware option i know of that could be a great option would be the RME ADI-2 for one, the unit itself has a lot of depth so i assume itās EQ is pretty in depth as well, used to own one, and its both a dac and an amp so, thats nice
absolutely. i think itās a great idea
I had a Monolith DAC/amp at one time, with built in EQ customization for, I think, up to 6 bands of choice frequencies. Filters and such too I think.
But controlling it all with a single dial via rotating a single dial and clicking my way through options to get through EQāing? It was a bit of a journey to operate. Not terrible per-se, but using the Lokius feels like a relative breath of fresh air.
It is so nice to have conveniences. Thereās a kind of happy simplicity to even dialing things to a static set of band choices. The ease of use makes toying around those pre-made bands faster to tinker with. Enjoyable settings become wonderfully quick to find even with the limited control.
absolutely, there is definitely a place in the market for it no question about it
Any good EQ for Android?
Maybe this will work for you
Anybody here ever tried pad swapping? Dekoni has like 4 pads. I think Z made a video about it.
Unfortunately this one doesnāt work with older versions of Android like whatās on the M15
Depth is how far the headphones can make the sound seem like it is away from your head. Soundstage is how wide the sounds appear or how separated each instrument sounds left to right. At least this is how I understand it.
Are there any cheap alternatives to this sound?
I heard the 8XX at a show and I at the very least want to have that cavernous staging in my collection somewhere.
Part of it is definitely that mid scoop, which is not something I want as drastic in the potential alternative as it is in the 8XX itselfā¦
Not really, but if you are into soundstage, AKG K712 Pro has the biggest soundstage for a reasonable price.
Know how it compares to the 770?
K712 is open, has bigger soundstage, less peaky in the trebale, has less bass, is more detailed and more breathable (less hot around the ears).
Any recommendations for new pads? I have a scruffy beard and the factory pads make me itchy as hellā¦
I havenāt tried them personally on the 8XX but anything from Dekoni is an easy recommendation for pad swapping.
I have the Dekoni elite hybrid pads, and they are great. I would stay away from the regular sheepskin ones. They seem to suck all the bass out of the HD8XX, at least in my experience. Iāll be getting rid of my sheepskin ones and staying with the hybrids.
I have a beard also, and the hybrids have been great with that so far.
Thanks! After some research those are the ones I ordered. How easy is it to swap the pads? I probably shouldāve done some research on that part too lol
