I still think these are one of the best into to big boy headphones. They don’t push people to uncomfortable places on the tuning. The best price on these is usually around Christmas at $130.
I also agree the HE400se is the other direct competitor, and I own both. I already owned the amp ( BTR5 ), so that cost wasn’t a problem. I also velcro’d a headband pad from Sennheiser ( $20 ) to make it comfortable enough to wear long enough to finish an album. They are also heavier, but have a lower clamping force. Mine came with a second cable ( ordered on Amazon ).
If I were starting from scratch, the HE400se would be expensive, with an amp, cable, headband pad, etc. where the HD58x is just ready right out of the box.
The HD58x also sounds great plugged into a Roku remote.
