an example Aspen. I can barely afford $200 headphones right now and I had the audacity to listen to the HiFiMan HE1000 v2 and the Focal Stellia. now my soul is tormented…

also, find out what brands he carries and then ask about specific models that you would want to hear or buy. it will avoid wasting yours and his time…and if you waste his, he might get pissy the next time you want to meet.

I guess I am a gluttonous fool cuz I want to be tormented.
yeah I was planning on asking what brands I can try and then doing research and then be like hey can you get them in for me to try.

Na, it’s good to get that experience and see whats up there, you can really figure out what it’s all about. It gives you a goal

a goal…or damnation.

I have to sooth my soul knowing that I likely can only afford a headphone that’s a quarter the sticker price.

that said, the experience was glorious. a real WOW moment. I hope you have many!

Just got back from my gear demo was a great time the guy loved to talk about everything so I learned a bit and tried out his 100k audio research system with Vienna Acoustics Liszt speakers (I didn’t catch the subwoofer make model) It was very impressive I understand why people say holographic sound. His offering was more Records and CD speakers set ups. But I got to use some LCD-2 Closed backs (Makes Me VERY Curious About the Open Backs) for about a Hour And it was nice But heavy AF why so heavy… It was a nice stack a Rogue audio headphone amp and an exposure stack for cd and records I went single ended from my Fiio m11 to the amp and was impressive. All in all a great way to spend a day with a nice fellow and Good music.

LCD-2 Closed Backs are very nice. They’ve been my daily driver ever since I bought them this summer. They’re like a massive black hole, both in sound and weight. Though the weight doesn’t bother me too much, I only start feeling it after a few hours and that’s only because the metal headband digs in my skull. I need to look into aftermarket comfort straps that are smaller than the stock one.

You do feel almost like a weight has lifted from your shoulders when you compare them to something light as the HD700 though.

Doing gear demos at stores is great fun. It really is a joy talking to people that enjoy the gear they’re selling and are actually apart of it as a hobby alongside of it being a business. Which runs stark in contrast to most big chains that just carry audio gear… haphazardly, I should say. Where the store clerks don’t know what they’re selling and why. Just makes you feel hollow when the person you’re talking to isn’t really interested in anything other than maybe earning a provision.

This is why I highly value local stores that actually burn for their hobby and business. I’d gladly support them over maybe saving a few bucks online. We need the passion and knowledge in this field to survive.
