Have we talked about USB cable quality yet?

If you have it might as well use it imo, it’s probably not going to do anything audibly bad, but just experiment with and without it in the signal chain and see if there are any differences perhaps

Not sure I agree.
Given, I have not looked into it too much so far, plan to do that soon™

The wonderful world of window driver fuckery

M0N knows that I went through driver hell multiple times and now that it is set, I don’t want to mess with it again.
Freaking took multiple days to rectify that issue too…

I am a master! Growing up in the days of switching jumpers to pick unused IRQ and Comm ports so that Windows 95 could support legacy DOS/3.1 software drivers from a pre USB world. You young whippersnappers don’t know how easy you’ve got it.

Guys its a 1000% better than in the old days…and i lived thru all the ticks and pops of asynch dacs and wierd USB issues…

WIth the latest stuff…running in bit perfect mode with exclusive mode the horrors of the past are really behind us…

But if you try to use some of that old crap…your in for a few cranky moments for sure…

I run a win10 pc exclusive mode with Jriver and Foobar all day long to a BIfrost 2 MB dac to the amp etc…with NO issues at all…

No windows f’kery here for me…YMMV

Yes of course, mainly just joking around here lol, it’s really not that bad, unless a manufacturer doesn’t know how to implement USB (but like 95% do at this point)

At that point just get a decent ddc and bypass the old USB, there are some really great older totl dacs out there, can be had for a real bargain if you don’t mind bypassing the USB on them (if it has USB to begin with lol)

that’s true…they have weird aberrations if you don’t set the audio quality to maximum, even if the music isn’t even close.
