šŸ”¶ Hedd HEDDphone

It actually sounded nice, helped with the lackluster soundstage, made that sound a bit more natural but still for the price I think overall spatial recreation something like the arya or other headphones would give you a better spatial recreation and still have the wow layering. But the arya vs the hedd would be an interesting comparison

How would you compare these to the 1266 phi tc’s detail retrieval? Zeos said the 1266 phi was the most detailed headphones in the world.

From my experience these don’t really compete resolution wise with the abyss, but they are impressively resolving for the price, moreso than some others in the price range of the hedd, but resolution isn’t everything (but if you really love resolving power you would like these)

Also I don’t think the 1266 phi tc is the most detailed headphone out there (but I can say its prob one of the most detailed that’s actually attainable for most people if they try)

Does the Abyss have great resolve without sacrificing the timbre and low-end?

I would say so yeah, it’s got pretty enjoyable low end. It’s not boosted or with loads of impact or anything like that but it is pretty good. Timbre isn’t the most natural but it is def good enough where I don’t have any real complaints, it’s fairly accurate

I’m thinking of getting this headphone instead of the Ayra. How does the Arya compare to it detail wise? analytical wise?

I think the hedd outresolves the arya, and is also quicker. The hedd is also more neutral imo. I think the arya has better spatial representation, but I think the hedd is very impressive for the price and I would go for the hedd if you wanted something more analytical

Something else to note is that I didn’t get to try it out on lower quality headphone amps, but I would say you may want to upgrade your amp significantly to really take advantage of the performance of the hedd. I would say a good solid state around the 1k mark used would be very nice with them. I think a great pairing would be a used spl phonitor e would be my pick, which I also used and forgot to mention, so let me edit that quick. It did scale with higher end amps but the e marked a good point where you aren’t spending too much on the amp

Are the SPL amps analytical uncolored amps?

Yes, fairly neutral leaning slightly analytical

Do you think the SPL Phonitor mini Headphone Amp is good enough?:

I would really suggest taking a look at the e, as I think it’s on a different performance tier. I thought the mini was alright but not really that great for just listening imo

If you wait you can get deals on the e for around 1k usd

The Phonitor mini is discontinued.

You could probably still find one, but the e would be better.

Also, if it’s for powering the HEDDphone, I was recommended the Schiit Magni 3 or Magni Heresy as inexpensive and capable amps.

Something to consider.

I mean I guess, but I wouldn’t really recommend that tbh

I’m just passing along the info/recommendations I was given.

I highly trust the person. :man_shrugging:t4:

At $99, I don’t think it’s a stretch to try if you have the HEDDphone.

I mean it would work just fine for sure, but if you are getting this caliber of headphones, you should at least get a reasonable amp in the same or slightly lower performance class

They also said it sounded good.

Perhaps I’ll go over next weekend and try a heresy and liquid spark

Let me know what you think. :+1:t4:
