Help me find this particular headphone? Running out of ideas

It has interior perforations, but those are really to maintain consistency to the signature, one really isn’t more v shaped than another, the v shape for the open x is more caused by driver re tuning and dampening than the pads, if anything the open has a bit more midrange than the closed

The lcd 2 is something I would say you would want to look into, I think the 2 classic would be lacking treble for you. The gx though does have a more neutral sound so it might be up your alley as well

Alright so, there is a place that actually carries Audeze lcd-2 and a seperate place in that same town that carries Focal clear. Both closed right now looks like I will be waiting on those for auditioning in store. Going to be interesting. Can’t find dan clark anywhere in my state going to shoot an email to them inquiring bout auditioning and perhaps some locations for their product line since I am coming up empty handed.

Curiosity getting to me here… anyone know if the pads that the Ananda uses can fit on a Aeon? would it work sound wise? Anandas pads are quite a bit thinner yes but I am curious as to if that would tweak my aeons issue I have with it for the better(course I would need to use adhesive cause aeon). so I just stumbled upon this https://vesperaudio.com/earpads they actually create ear pads, custom to order. Very curious now… I may actually be able to fix my aeon

Here are some comparison pics between Elex and stock 58x pads similar thickness, 58x is maybe 1-2 cm more elongated at the opening while Elex is a cm or so wider.

Feel your pain, as I live in rural Appalachia. The only opportunity I have to get to a store to demo is when I travel for work, which has been less over the last couple years, and totally shut down now.

Ah, ok yeah that isn’t to bad at all and would work. Appreciate the comparison post. Like I said previously theres actualy a store a bit of ways away that carries the focal clear and elear so I will be able to audition those later. Just threw a message to VesperAudio. According to them they haven’t read that the pads ruin the sound of the aeon and the pads can be microsuede perforated or even velour according to the list… interested even more so on possibly changing the comfort of the aeon.

If you’re willing to spend upwards of $1200 new, the Eikon’s pads are fucking cavernous for my ear (and they’re ridiculously light for how they look (feels like they weigh just a slight bit more than the PMs)). They might fit you just right. Am very much so enjoying a used pair rn.

nope, looks like the trend here is the $600-$800 roughly range since used you can find those between $300-$500 from time to time which is fine in my books. I have already practically ruled out zmf headphones. While I am positive they are nothing short of incredible I can’t see them as feasible for me personally under those price tags.

If you’re willing to push it to $900, that’s what I got mine for. Spent a couple months searching for used on Ebay and other places though.

But yea, fair enough.

The other thing you could do is throw ZMF pads on Sundaras or other round cans. They’re a good deal more comfortable / well made than the default Hifiman pads. Idk how the Sundaras fit on you though.

Yeah, I was looking at the zmf…buying at $900 goes over my budget as used would drop to around $600 or so They are definitely more in tune with music and a hybrid between gaming and music together only goes so far while music extends farther out in quality than a game can. Honestly, I sat with both sundara and aeon and there just isnt a competition there… aeons just are better imo and they have that “vast” sound to them that is much better than the sundara. As far as sundaras fit though the base pads are those pali pads and those hug the top of my ears which, probably due to the fabric, makes them fairly uncomfortable to me if they were leather doing that it’d be a lot worse. In the case of a pad like that actually placing pressure on my ears it’d have to be like a real soft velour or a type of softer microsuede than something like those use something of a less grainier and smoother padding. Other hand it’d just have to be slightly larger pads and would work fine regardless of the pad type. Right now I am trying to dig around the possible idea of Ananda pads fitting on the Aeon or not and whether it will fix it, all the while waiting on the last batch of headphones I have on order to audition.

They cost $1400 new. Got mine used for ~$900.

Maybe Audeze’s would work since they’re fuckhuge? I dunno man, if these are all that drastically small IEMs might be the better option?

ZMF makes suede pads as well.

Well like I said, new price headphone range seems to be $600-$800 since you can find them used from $300-$500 any more than that on the new price and it goes outside of budget. I am planning to go and test the LCD - 2 upon recommendations but itll be a bit on that one. I also have Sendy Aiva and Ananda on order as well as a few others for a trial run. Idk about audezes pad and their sizes pretty sure aeon and ananda are the bigger pad in that case. Aeon’s issue I think for me is just a mixture between clamp force, leather, and the thickeness of that leather. As far as price is concerned cheaper = better to me… Not all fantastic headphones cost a fortune.

Not sure how I feel on the amiron home… Just got it… this honestly feels like the DT 1990s little brother right now and more in like with the dt 990s cause that friggin S sound sibilance on these is annoying. Kinda hoping that situates a bit as I burn these in. These sound like a warmer dt 1990 but with a treble thats a tad to sharp causing that s sound issue.
