I mean sure, the point was I don’t know that any of them are harsh, people are just mistaking their harsh music for a harsh DAC. But CS-es aren’t all veiled either, the Tanchjim Space for example lets you select a (pseudo-)linear-phase fast-rolloff filter if you install the app, and then it should be fine. But if I’m looking at a CS-chip DAC and there’s no info about filter characteristics and being able to select one with no early rolloff and no massive ultrasonics, I’d rather just not take the chance, and just keep scrolling. (Sure it’s fixable with a player that supports direct USB access + oversampling, but I’d rather have a DAC that doesn’t make that mandatory.)

Actually, it doesn’t save / store anything at all. No matter what you change (volume, gain, etc.), everything stays the same.
And it’s not only me having issues like these.
