Iā€™m pleasantly surprised by these

what do you find surprising about them? or how did they exceed your expectations?

The bass response. The only planar Iā€™ve heard that actually has good slam. They sound like they have more slam than the dt880 which I love but Iā€™m going off memory.

if you donā€™t mind, are you referring to the dt880 600 or 250 ohm version?

the 600 ohm version

interesting. what respective amps did you power them off? I mean what did you pair each of the two headphones with?

Asgard 3 w/multibit dac. For both

ok, really interesting. I was decided on the dt880ā€™s over the sundaras and then I saw zeosā€™ review which was fun but kind of pushed me away from them because my thinking at the moment is that (since a canā€™t get a hold of the asgaard 3) or a dark voice, which seems like a really attractive pairing, the sundaras are more universally compatible. what kind of music did you listen to on both?

Metal and Rap/hip hop, Reggae occasionally. I tend to enjoy a warmer or v shaped sounding headphones, Nighthawks and Argon mk3 for example, but thereā€™s something about the dt880 that made genres like rock and metal sound really good. Electric guitars sounded really good on the dt880.

I get the same vibes with the Sundaras. A bit less full sounding in the mids. But it makes up for it in its smoother treble and bass response (again going off memory since I no longer have the dt880).

thanks. Interesting too because most comments I remember reading favour the sundara mids over the dt880ā€™s

Iā€™ve always been the opposite of everyone lol. They probably donā€™t listen to metal

that makes sense I guess. Metal 571 loves them too I think

what amp would you be using with the sundara? they need a decent amount of power as well imoā€¦ the dt880 performs better paired with a lower powered amp than the sundara does imo

wow. really interesting.

seems to turn the prevailing logic on its head, at least my prevailing logic.

Any idea wha the Lake People G109-A might do for either of these headphones? (its another used offer)

I just read you have a lyr so you should have plenty of power for eitherā€¦ isnā€™t that like 6W or something crazy?

Wow, that Lake People amp is specā€™d at over half a watt at 600 ohms. It should do the job nicely. @M0N has recommended Lake People amps to several EU members here. If you can get a good deal on it, I say go.

No I donā€™t have it but its being offered at 200 euros. Only itā€™s the lyr 1, so I donā€™t know if its worth buying. I saw Currawongā€™s review of lyr 3 and he considers it fantastic, but he said it was a big redesign from the lyr 2, which means the lyr 1 is probably not great. But I havenā€™t seen the specs

ok sounds good. At least if it sounds good to you it sounds good to me. I can get the g109a for 200 euros which seems pretty good.

I can get the g103s new for 220 euros.

The g109 seems like a higher quality model, although Iā€™m not yet sure if its a g109s or g109p because I canā€™t find g109a anywhere.

wait, its the version that z reviewed - the anniversary edition
