How do sub-$100 IEMs now compare to Open Back Headphones?

I may have a few in my aliexpress-cart for when I got some free moolah to spend as I’ve heard this advice before

Except with buds, the value is even crazier than with iems. You can get great buds at only around 10 usd lol.

Yincrow X6
and
NiceHCK MX500

are my recs.

Got the Vido, RY4S and Yincrow X6 in me cart. 3 buds for €22,07. A steal!

You can probably skip the vido.

But yeah, buds are so damn cheap.

Eh. They’re 1,20 or something. I wanna see what it sounds like

lol, thats fine I guess.

What IEMs do you recommend? You’ve piqued my interest. I’m totally a headphone person and only use IEMs for portability when I commute. I own Fiio FH5, Shouer Tape Pro and Tin Hifi P1.

All of this is based on my experience with the FH3, though my best experience with them isn’t portable, it’s on my desktop amp with some EQ applied.

I’m going to be jumping into the tribrids in the near future but I’m waiting for the market to chill out and stop dropping new sets every two seconds so I can figure out what to go with. Only buying one set in that price range so I’m taking my sweet time.

Wait… You’d put the FH3 above a $1200 pair of cans???

I own a pair of FH3’s and now I’m really curious what you’re comparing them to. Because they don’t beat my $350 headponies :stuck_out_tongue:

“Beat” is the wrong word. Again, it comes down to preference. The headphones were technically superior, likely in most areas, but the delivery style wasn’t giving me the visceral response that I was getting from the IEMs. No matter how many times I swapped back and forth I always came to the same conclusion, and every time I sat with the headphones I missed that quality.

The headphones in question were the Klipsch HP-3. They were my prized audio item for quite some time. I got them for 800$ and sold them for 800$. Worth.

I’ve since tried the Emu-Teak and the Gold Planar GL2000. The GL2000 is the set that I’ve held on to but I still prefer the FH3 for music.

Huh… Those are some pretty specific headphones.

Oh I understand, especially if you involve price. like yeah the Susvara is probably a better headphone but not for me cuz it’s like 6k :stuck_out_tongue:

Sexy. But from what I’ve read probably not my style either.

You paid 0$ for owning and thoroughly testing a nice set of cans. Worth no matter how shit the cans you get are. Experience for free is experience for free :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah… Talk about divisive cans :stuck_out_tongue:

Oh I love my GL2000 too! I was really close to getting Emu Teaks, but I ended keeping my Beyer DT177X. We may have similar preference. However since I already own FH5, I’m not keen on trying FH3

The IEMs mentioned here are great. Will probably try some of this and determine whether IEMs are better for me.
