I am going insane

Yes, I am on Windows.
My motherboard is AsRock B365 Pro4.

What do you mean by that? What kind of headphones? If yes, then I had a pair of gaming cans from Asus, the Asus Rog Strix Fusion 300.

Does what work normally?

Nope, I don’t have any speakers.

Does your old headphones work and function normally with plenty of volume? Then when you swap to the Fidelio that one has low sound?

First of all, this are my first audiophile grade headphones I have ever had.
Wait, no, that’s a lie, I had been using the Sennheiser Momentum 2 Wireless for my phone only for 1 and a half-ish years (they’re great, no complaints).
Now, I know that these are open-back, so the bass is not ass powerful as on closed-back headphones, I understand that. I also took into consideration that they might not be as loud, but this is absurd (at full volume, they sound like my old cans at 40%, something’s not right).
A few hours into listening to these and I think I am getting used to them, they’re volume don’t really bug me as much, but I really think that the volume gap is too big.
Call me crazy or not used to the sound of audiophile grade headphones, I’ll understand, but I really need your help

Well, them being gaming cans, the bass is emphasized and the vocals are not the best, so at max volume there are a certain amount of songs that they struggle. But the songs I compared the 2 headphones to, the fusion 300 kept the bass controlled (it didn’t distort it) and the vocals where also not distorted (of course, they aren’t better than on the fidelio’s, but they’re louder)

I think I forgot to respond to your question.
Yes, the Fidelio’s seem way too quiet compared to what I imagined they would be.

Seems odd to me. Like I said, mine are at my regular listening level coming out of my PC at like 14%. On my phone, I’m at like 50%. Something isn’t right.

idk man. More hours have passed and now the low level volume seems better but I am still not covinced that it’s right.
I am listening at 30% rn and this is the volume I got at like 15% on my last pair of cans

Are you plugging your headphones into the front of your computer or the back? Try both if not.

I tried both

Got the same result

And when I play games, I need to bump up my volume up to like 60% compared to 30%.
Something is not right

One question, did you connect your old headset through the 3.5mm jack or through USB? Or maybe both at the same time?

I had a USB connection

Are you saying that there is a big difference of the volume between a usb connection and a jack connection?

Of course lol. See, USB can normally deliver more power than what the 3.5mm jack can deliver because the USB standard dictates so. There’s no standard for on-board audio.
That also means that your old pair of headphones has an integrated DAC/amp that utilizes the USB power and signal.

Try this, plug in your old headset using only the 3.5mm jack. It’ll actually be a bit quieter than the X2HRs because it has a higher impedance.

So, you will need an amp after all

alright, let me try that little experiment of yours.
And now the question, what amp?

It all depends on your budget. I stick with my Liquid Spark recommendation, or the Syba Sonic if you want something for 1/3rd the price

Well the Liquid Spark isn’t available in my country

For a cheap option, you might look at something like one of the USB dongles. I have this one:

It’s not going to match the quality of something like the Liquid Spark, but it should give you the volume boost you need.
