DACs and amps instead of all-in-ones are great because you can switch, sell, and obviously, you don’t have to buy everything at the same time, sell everything at the same time, change everything at the same time, and if something breaks, your “entire audio chain” isn’t broken.
I feel like 10 years ago hi-fi forums were just full of 1000$ AVRs or 1000$ to 5000$ Marantz recommendations, and now you can get a 100$ amp and one month later a 100$ DAC and two RCA cables and everything sounds better.
