We are doing Ohm measurements the manual way, because your meters built in ohm range is not useful for your application.
This way you can now figure out if the drivers are in paralele and maybe even where. Instead of just seeing continuity as a yes/no value.

Measure the headphone as is (GND to L and R, write those two values down). When you now unsolder one wire of any driver and the value halves, you know they were in paralel (mono).
So seeing if they are in parallel is going to help see why things are being plaid back in mono?

What if I solder the signal wire going to the other cup directly to the source feed, rather then letting it pass through pcb on the driver?
As long as there is no direct short Signal to Ground, you should be good.
