IEM discussion thread (Part 2)

Trust me Bro v.s. tools designed to measure vibration
STORM has a metal shell.
There is zero energy coming out to the ear.
It’s an odd debate tbh

I should have been more specific, what I meant to convey is that some of the people in that chat preferred the bass of STORM or another unit, not that they were more tactile in their delivery of bass. My bad (and passing on secondhand word).

Oh, yeah, my bad, I hear stuff about texture and kinda check out

It’s a producton effect not a transducer imbued abiity. It can doo what was mastered or not.

People prefering bass replay one over another is like ice cream flavors…ya like what ya like and good is what ya like. :ok_hand:

I saw the implication that Storm has a slam to shell that isn’t even possible and leapt…I’m making a vid right now so folks can learn how to DIY this themselves
Anyone with Obsessive compulsive is gonna be fine others? It’s a lot of work

My last review from the sets loaned is the EA1000. My short take is I think the EA1000 is a pretty amazing neutral bright IEM and is well worth ~$200 if thats something you are looking for. I wasn’t a fan of the EA500 so the EA1000 def beats it. I can’t speak to the LM as I haven’t heard it

I’m definitely excited to see what people have to say about the Ziigaat Doscinco. It sounds very promising.

Verdandi performs so close to Kublai Khan which is priced twice. I will shared a detailed post in few days.

@ToneDeafMonk Just curous have you gotten yours yet?

Imo the 3T is designed to be cranked loud. Interestingly besides badly masted music showing its flaws clearly the 3T when played loudly has a crazy wide soundstage while still maintaining good imaging.

So far I am enjoying the 3T on orchestral music but it generally works well with most music.
One interesting quirk is that it has fast attack and decay but the transient tip is rounded off so it does have the best of timbre but it sounds good enough but that plays a big role as a moderately V iem to being enjoyable when cranked.

Microdetails are somewhat missing but I guess thats the trade off.

@Rikudou_Goku Interestingly it has a very tight sound and doesnt sound bloomy at all.

While it has boosted bass and very good subbass I feel that its too controlled for bassheads.

Is this about Teslas of magnetic power?

Yes, “T” = Tesla, which is a measure of how strong the magnetic field is from the magnet inside the DD.

EA500LM in da house.

Verdict is that the bass below ~100Hz is elevated and a general improvement in technical performance. They sound absolutely sublime —once I mod them exactly like I did the EA500 . The two sets of nozzles with the red ring, silver and gold, sound exactly the same. They both have a half-width low-density foam tucked inside, and swapping them out for full-width high-density foams did literally the exact same trick necessary for the EA500.

I’m a happy camper :+1: .

Just wanted to share some brief opinions on End game. I think I hit with the Elysian Anniliator 2023. Just such lovely trebble and natural sound. Also anyone remember Leo Nas? He got his fiio fx15

I’m glad that story came to a happy ending

I don’t think he will ever stop asking that question. Yesterday saw this on Penon’s group.

It’s ugly as hell, ew. And those damn switches…

Anyway, Penon also shared some graphs.

Green is 100 bass mode, blue is 020 reference mode.

They were better off not releasing any graphs than to show that

Honestly that doesn’t look bad assuming the scale is exaggerated and each horizontal line is 5db. Idk why some companies stretch their graphs like that
