Got one of these some months ago for ridicolousy little money and this must be one of if not the best purchase in my 20 years with IEMs and not to forget scuba diving.
Until then I’d carefully clean my ears about once a month with a 100ml syringe with lukewarm water and a special blunted tip (not for the fainthearted); it always worked just fine but this tool changed everything.
Heck, shoot one while they last.
Just picked up that for my nephew and it should be in today, figured the replaceable batteries should keep him going better if he is hunting or traveling etc.
I was not impressed with the Airoso at all. The Defiant are arriving today for me to try.
Absolutely, replaceable batteries are such a practical feature… really extends the product’s life. I also think more brands should start adopting that approach instead of forcing us into sealed units.
Now it’s WuKong’s turn to get used by different brands apparently
Perhaps they are preparing for the upcoming replaceable battery law that EU is implementing.
Tangzu has already used other famous characters from Journey to the west though.
Oh cool. Did you manage to get it ?
I did. It’s OK, a good $100 IEM. But the gloss it’s receiving from the community is a bit strong.
The Defiant is good, not great.
Just in case you didn’t know, the kids these days say glaze, cause I want you to sound cool
As a kids these days I confirm this to be the case.
Maybe the Xenns Top Pro? It’s currently on sale for $449, so towards the upper end of your budget. (I’ts a 4 week wait period though. I’m still waiting on delivery myself.)
It seems to check most of your boxes, but keep in mind that I have not heard it myself yet, Check out as many reviews and opinions as you can before buying.
I’m 60. I’m past trying to be cool.
Which is a very cool thing to say
Try the $89 Sivga Que UTG but plan on aging it for 100 hours or so to allow the bass to fully realize.
I’m old too. Glaze is good though
This is a step in the right direction!
How has it been compared to Airoso, since you weren’t impressed with Airoso. Still can’t warp my head around similar their graphs look lol …bet Airoso is probably chunkier than Defiant
Interestingly, the Etude and KB02 are even crazier than I thought …
Airoso sounded thin and tinny to me. Maybe I didn’t get the right tip, but I definitely got a good seal. Nothing distinctive whatsoever about the Airoso to me.
The Defiant is well tuned at $100. But again, it offers nothing special. It’s a solid $100 IEM, nothing more. Recommended if that’s your budget ceiling, but I don’t think the Defiant is that much better than the $50 Kefine Klean, and it’s no better than the $51 Artti T10.
I also understand I’m in the vast minority with this opinion about the Defiant. The hype train chugs with a bit too much steam for this model.
But I get it – there are so many solid releases these days from China, so the hype trains can get out of control. Chinese tuners are getting so skilled that we think solid sets are exceptional.
Solid has become the new normal for Chi-fi. I want something more before I use the Jaws of Life to pry open my money clip.
