I had Doscinco and sold it because the warmth was too much and the bass lacked resolution.
sounds like my doscinco
turned out it had inverted polarity on both sides and absolutely neutered the bass on this isobaric style dd setup (usually there’s hardly/if any difference on normal dd and planar, really have to nitpick the bass or have odd production on the track to ABX it)
afaik not all sets of doscinco are inverted
edit: that is to say i flipped the cable pins a while back and it’s the best quality bass i have.
i think i noticed the issue around the time i heard boosted planar bass (shozy p20 / eq’d Edifier spirit s3) come to think of it, and now it’s besting the planar bass
That one looks like an IEM set for fans who are into the Occult as well, not just sounds. If I am going to get a set like that, the look of it being all unique better reflect on the sound aspects as well. Gonna predict this one though, probably a good listen for black metal tracks.
The price is completely ridiculous though, otherwise It would be up there as one of the sets I’d want most. But that ain’t ever happening.
Folks, I have decided to try this really cheap set from GK, which is the Kunten and apparently GK is a subsidiary of KZ, just like CCA or something? Correct me if I am wrong about it. With me having past experiences to KZ of them being good during the early days, and now just meh or bad in general, my expectations of this set is pretty much low or none at all.
But yeah I’ve tried it, just to see what the hype is all about, and yeah they’re really good for the price. Are they any better than a 20-50USD set? Not really, there are things that hinder it from being one, like the stock cable and tips being trash (unless you do the reverse modding on the stock tips for it uses the KZ Starline tips and it’s a huge improvement if you do that in my opinion.) so a tip rolling and cable change is essential. Also some bass bleed on the mids, the vocals for me lacking a bit of that body and the treble being there sure, but smooth so no microdetails for me. Technical abilities are pretty much average from this set.
What do I think of the sounds? It’s up there with the likes of the 7Hz Zero 2, Moondrop Chu 2 and other budget sets that I like, but it’s not any better than Tanchjim Bunny imo. Tuning is its main strength for it’s really surprised me when a tuning from this price point can be done, but being a hyped up set? A bit overblown for me.
It appears that the Kunten uses a dense mesh filter topped by a metal dust filter in the nozzles. That combo will zap the micro details.
