IEM discussion thread (Part 2)

Aye if IMR were based in Texas it would be situated in a well defended ranch/compound, all purchasers would be referred to as followers/disciples, all outside Communication with friends or family would be forbidden except for the odd post on Head-Fi

No like I wanted to buy them because of the dual 13.7mm

Estrella welcomes all competition under $1K :handshake:

But ya kinda sucks that with that set-up they’re not going bassy even though they have nozzles as well like what :joy:

Yeah that is one awesome DD setup. With how vented this is along with the huge dual DDs, it has the potential to be the Sony EX800st/1000 beater, too bad their tuning looks kinda meh…

Ikr ugh :unamused: They’ll probably release something similar with that setup but with a different tuning in their other lineup, annoying, but it is what it is

They already got the FD15 which is a single 13.8mm DD, so yeah will likely see this big DD invade their other new products.

or nvm

looks like its only the FX17 that is not released yet based on this schedule.

Spending the night with the Eminent Ears Ruby, I heard this first time at the CanJam, even today it’s always special whenever i put her on.

With FiiO, millimeters don’t matter. Even if 30 mm is DD, it still won’t be bass.
I still have the FH7 and despite the huge DD there is no bass :smiling_face_with_tear:

The venting on that set doesnt look anything beyond average.

Are you describing Tesla fans??

Fujifilm X-T3 with 16-80 upgrade kit lens combo I bought some years back, still have no macro lens. One day I’m getting one. Its a fun side hobby to take photos, still learning and improvements comes along the way.

FW5 is just imbalanced in terms of the sound in TWS: PEQ + mic is pure fun

Can anyone help recommend a good upgrade to the Yume II around or under $200?

My favorite feature of them is absolutely the treble and forwardness of the vocals, if I could find something with more sub bass, better resolution and better instrument separation with the same(or even a bit more upper treble) I would be very happy.

I’m really hoping to not spend more than $200

Probably Gizaudio Chopin or Simgot Supermix 4 (I think @VIVIDICI_111 would say SM4) is a shout

13mm or more is harder to tune to powerful sub-bass as the impedance increases, and harder to get it to play loud at least 80dB (about 400mW at 32 ohms), + more likely to avoid driver breakage as you need better glue to hold a diaphragm of that volume, although I’m not entirely sure what I’m saying. In my experience, even with a 300 ohm capacitor on the Huayunxin 14HQ driver (14.2mm dd) it was difficult to achieve 80dB at 400mW. But if the driver manufacturer himself set such a goal at the factory, I think it is possible. The main difference between good and bad drivers is how they are tuned by the manufacturer, Sonion drivers are, in my experience, better tuned from the factory than Knowless. After testing the Sonion 38D2XJ00 7Mi/8c I am no longer interested in dynamic drivers, I believe it is currently the best value for the price, durability, maximum power and low sensitivity.

As @GooberBM said supermix4!

This seems very very very wrong.

I guess the resonance peak is not in the subbass, and efficiency could roll off very aggressively from there, so if we’re talking about like 20-40 hz subbass it doesn’t seem completely out of the relm of possibility, especially when it’s in enclosure (guess those specs are free field? Idk how iem driver manufacturers usually do it). Or?
