Hi all — hope it’s okay to post this here!
My name’s Chris and I’m one half of the team behind Sleevenote. We’ve been around for a while in a few different iterations, but we’ve just taken a big step and opened up pre-orders for our prototype hardware device. I’m posting here in the hope some people might be interested.
More details can be found here.
Happy to answer any questions!

250 GBP and no SD card? Yeah gl.

SD card is TBD based on the Day One buyers feedback/wishlist. I’m definitely keen to add expandable storage.
Just a quick note. In one place it says 2.5mm and in another it says 3.5mm for analog out. I suspect one is wrong and the other is right
Good luck. You’re attempting to enter an extremely competitive race to the bottom market but I suspect you know this…
The hook reads like Roon did about a decade ago. In my opinion they never reached the dream they sold. I wish you the best and hope you find your market for the device.

checked the indiegogo page that existed for this product back in 2021, i’m confused as to how you’re waiting for customer feedback for a product that already didn’t launch once, and in those 4 years you haven’t decided to add an sd card since? the page already admits that the only unique part is the screen so i can’t imagine this would be difficult to implement, and i’ve done similar projects at home as a hobby, equally a lot of the website is just sloppy, i’m not sure how you leave a typo that says 2.5mm when you mean 3.5mm, when it’s clearly 3.5mm based on the old design, i personally wouldn’t want to back a product that has zero proof-reading on its website
additionally, i feel like the rhetoric of supporting artists through purchasing their music and then displaying it through a £250 screen is antithetical at best and manipulative at worst, surely if i’m the average consumer i’d rather just get a cheap £100 dap such as the hidizs pro x then spend the additional £150 on supporting said artists, or just buying vinyls to display with greater resolution and being able to show off my collection on top of that. Who is this for?

Also if it’s a current design… why 2.5mm?
Thanks for taking the time to look into it — and thanks for pointing out the 2.5mm typo (now fixed). I appreciate the careful reading.
It’s no secret that we tried to crowdfund the device a while ago, and it’s also no secret that hardware is hard. Plenty of products take a few attempts before they land. The goal this time is to move more deliberately, gather real feedback from people who actually care about this kind of experience, and only then commit to manufacturing again.
Regarding SD cards: as I mentioned above, expandable storage is very likely. We’re talking directly with the people who’ve pre-ordered to understand what’s essential for them, and that’s shaping the final spec.
What we’re trying to build is quite a specific experience — a device where the visual and album-centric aspects of listening are treated as first-class rather than an afterthought. That won’t resonate with everyone, and that’s completely fine.
To confirm, this is still a small indie project, not a polished corporate launch. We don’t have the resources of companies like FiiO, so the priority is to keep the core idea intact rather than chase a huge feature list. But feedback like yours is genuinely valuable in understanding expectations and blind spots.
Happy to keep the conversation going if you have other thoughts.
