Well they will grow on you; and I like them more for everytime I use them
These fit in my tiny little ear canal and funnel the sound right for me. They sealed well and brought out the low end immensely to help make them a complete IEM. I like the way they sound now, (Shouer tapes)
“What a difference a tip makes” Dinah Washington would say…
In case you haven’t decided yet you may want to consider the Fearless Audio S8f, S8P or the new S8Z. $524 for the S8F or S8P gets you an “S” rated IEM on Crinacle’s list. The newly released S8Z is likely to grade at least an “S” and based on preliminary feedback from some very reputable reviewers it could beat out both the S8P and S8F. These same reviewers are also saying it could potentially top the Moondrop S8 which is no small feat. The Moondrop S8 is a great IEM so it it will be interesting to see which way it goes. The Fearless Audio S8Z is priced at $589. The S8 line is an 8 BA IEM. Reviews of the S8Z should be popping up soon so you may want to wait and see before you pull the trigger. Oh, and they have tons of faceplate options so you can really personalize them. Some of the designs are quite nice
Thank you for the info Dave and welcome to our little corner of the internet audio world.
Polaris II, I reckon they are right up your alley. I love the same sound signature as you as these were practically perfect for me. They could do with a tad more detail as stye don’t have as much an andromeda’s.
I do not believe there is one IEM to rule them all.
You will have to compromise in some area simply because of your genre preferences, recording quality and tonal tastes (which will change over time).
Here is my take on the cheaper end of the spectrum (I own and use each of these)
TIN T4:
Great all rounder and ‘go to’ phone. Does everything right but is nothing special. Will cover pretty much all genres you listed.
TIN P1:
Pure magic in an IEM. If paired correctly (DAC/AMP). Really hard to drive. The best for Blues / Jazz, provides such presence, esp on vocals. Not so good on Dance / Hip Hop, well anything modern / electronic. Bass light but I can forgive it for that. Mid-range is unmatched in this company.
I enjoy these more than my LCD-2s if you would believe it.
Blon 03:
King of modern / dance music. Too much Bass bleed / bloom for acoustic / strings.
Shuoer Tapes:
Hmm. Too hot in the treble for the most part. With EQ can compare (not compete) with all the above. My least fav.
Hope this helps.
I feel the same lol, the cheaper kinda fakeish estat implemention in iems typically isn’t the best, they haven’t gotten good at integrating them yet
Thank you everyone for all the suggestions I could not be happier with all the recommendations and the variety of sound signatures. No matter what I say I prefer, time and again I realize I simply like it all, different is the spice of life!
Also my ears truly are not tuned well enough for me to justify spending the real big bucks so I’m currently perfectly content and HAPPY with an assortment of budget and mid-fi pieces I can actually enjoy using for extended listening sessions without burning up my ears
way to dip your toe into the water slowly
Lol way to dive in! I love it! Enjoy the journey. Looks like you’ve got enough to hold you for awhile. And your ears’ understanding and tuning will come with time. Having differently tuned headphones will help a lot! It’s all a process! Then you’ll find your fav sound signature and take another five off the deep end in that realm! But no, seriously! Happy listening! Today looks like a great day!
