My Sweet Ass. Yes exactly.
So if anyone is interested in a SERENE-DC there are 10 in stock with me in the US and a few in Canada.
I just today got another 50 units in but it is gonna take me a bit to get them DC’d and I need to take a bunch to Axpona. So if they aren’t in stock on the site just hit refresh. When they are all done (100 units) the listing will just get removed.

I love them, I mod them with foam and I use gel pads, I hope Zeos can sell all the units.
Whos pads? What model fits? I am curious.
ALSO I WILL HAVE 3 SETS IN TOMORROWS YARD SALE.. For International Bidders. Since we can’t sell from PPA directly yet. $200 start price will ship anywhere.
The Princess delivered me Serene-DC #39 on Friday, it’s now Sunday morning, and in that time I’ve listened to 139 of my favorite highest-resolution tracks (many of them multiple times) and holy shit man, I was not mentally prepared for how goddamn amazing these sound. These are AN EXPERIENCE.
I try not to be an audio snob in general but I do deeply value the details; build quality, tone, range, soundstage, and the ability to rip my face off if I want it adjusted. My setup is fairly modest: just a HiBy R4 Evangelion, a Schiitstack of Modi, Loki, and Magnus for when I need even more power than Eva can give me, a couple sets of decent IEMs on upgraded cables, and -until now- a set of Sivga Ansers on S&W’s excellent 4.4mm balanced cable as my go-to for deep listening along with a venerable old set of Sennheiser HD 280 Pros for basic wandering-around enjoyment.
The Ansers have served me well and they’ll continue to, they’re a damn fine set at the price, super comfortable for long periods, easy to drive off of just about anything with medium gain and volume around 55 being my preferred setting for them in Eva, and up until Friday night I thought they were just about the bee’s knees.
But then Friday night with Serene-DC happened and sweet merciful crap man, get these headphones… or get the regular Serene and fix them, and then just sit down and listen to every track you’ve ever thought you heard before and prepare to be amazed by everything you’ve missed up until now.
Out of the 139 of my favorite tracks I’ve re-listened to so far, 3 of them sound better on Anser than on Serene. It’s tough to explain how and why, exactly, but it’s the case. The other 136 have blown my mind. I did not know that the term “precision” could be this good. I did not know that testicle-vibrating bass could be produced by something like this, so compact and without any gimmicks like Skullcandy’s old vibrating pad schtick, especially while maintaining a high end so sweet it can bring a tear to your eye. I did not know that it was possible for any headphone -especially a closed-back- to create this huge of a soundstage and maintain this degree of instrument separation and dimension in sound.
And it’s not a gimmick, like I know some headphones have little tricks of design or processing to make the sound feel wider or more dimensional than normal, but Serene just produces whatever dimension the music calls for. Listening to Merkaba’s “Earth” in full 24-bit 96kHz 2.8Mbps there’s a voice at the beginning that is so goddamn centered and narrow that it is IN YOUR SOUL and if you blink wrong it’ll leak out your nose, while later in the same track a chanting aboriginal dude orbits your head, right to left around the front and left to right around the back, somehow circling out about 5’ outside your skull, and Serene is the first headphone I’ve ever encountered to be able to accurately reproduce both of those effects.
Want your face ripped off? Serene will do that too. She sounds perfect at medium gain, volume 60, and she still sounds perfect at high gain, volume 90. Crank the gain and volume and slap on Dot Dot by Kwengface and prepare to lose at least one of your socks. Your ears might bleed a little, sure, but you can use the other sock to wipe them off and Serene will have zero complaint.
To be clear, this is all based on my experience while running Serene off 4.4mm balanced output through the aftermarket Flare cable Zeos includes with the -DC version, and playing massive wavs with ridiculous encoding specs because why not, if I’m taking the time to seriously listen to music I want the best shit I can get. The cables matter, the files matter, the source matters to Serene. Using the same cable with the USB-C tip into my phone and your average compressed streaming music still sounded great but nothing like what’s possible with a proper source file through a balanced output.
And yes, the OEM cable is trash. But listen, who here seriously buys a set of headphones without either already having, or at the same time ordering, better aftermarket cables for them? Let’s be real.
The only fault I’ve found is long-term comfort, as others have observed you’ve got about an hour of listening in Serene before she starts getting a little hot and sweaty.
That’s okay, though, because in that hour your gob will be smacked, and your flabbers will be fully gasted. Take a little break to collect yourself and maybe wipe a few things off, and get right back into it.
Oh hey,
thank you for purchasing through my little online shop. I really appreciate it.
Not particularly but maybe sometimes. Awesome writeup, thanks for the review!
Now that I’m old I don’t want my face ripped off nearly as often as I used to, but man… some days do still be like that, and it’s nice to have the option there when I need it!
