Left channel is Mono?

Just got a new pair of DT 880s and i’ve recently noticed they only play sound from the left channel,
and this audio is played on both sides of the headphone as if its a mono signal.

The right channel from my PC is completely nonexistent in the headphones.
I’m guessing they are defective and need to be replaced, but this just seems like an issue that shouldn’t happen???

try a different headphone into that mobo and see if it happends again and plug those headphones into another source like your phone. best way to makes sure its not your headphone. also make sure the plug is in all the way

That really doesn’t sound like the headphones, that really sounds like a software issue as if this was an issue in the analog domain it wouldn’t mix to stereo

could be a bad cable, or if it’s a 3.5 mm Jack, possibly the plug not being seated.

Thanks for the fast replies, i plugged in my old POS headphones and they have the channels correct from the same 3.5mm plug

the issue is definetly somewhere from the plug to the headphones

Yikes I would return them and get another one if they are new I haven’t seen a Beyer doa like ever though

Yeah same, this is extremely unusual for beyers, linking this post since it was relevant

As M0N and others have said I’ve concluded there’s a hardware error in the cable/headphones, i’ll be returning them and getting a replacement.

For archival purposes these are DT 880 600 ohm, multimeter measures an open circuit ( i misread the original reading for a short) on the right audio ring on the TRS, and 288 ohms res on the Left tip of the TRS (measured to the Sleeve Ground)

I believe the left and right drivers may be hooked in parallel via the left channel wire. I would open them up but i’d rather grab a working pair lol.

thats a safer route I would go for it
