How about maybe a Denon AH-D7200, TH-610, or other Fostex biodyna? I don’t have experience with those, but they trend warmer with solid bass, but maybe still not enough vocal presence?
The main issue with those is that they are pretty much semi open, they leak a fair bit and don’t isolate, if you are going portable they are poor in that regard, but they do sound great, the emu teak or x00 ebony would fit the bill well imo if you aren’t concerned about isolation
Portability doesn’t matter.
Sound bleed doesn’t matter either.
It is all about blocking out external noise (drives me crazy)
Gotcha, in that case, the aeon 2 or the elegia (which doesn’t match your sound sig but is something you might end up enjoying) do seem like they would be good fits
So just wondering, what do you like about the aeolus, and what would you like to change?
I completely forgot about fostex.
I usually just think about the reds or blues
The aeolus are very…rich
Winds, strings, and vocals sound very clear, but also…smooth (bad description)
They don’t have big impact, but that is why I have the argon’s coming for metal and rock.
The big problem as everyone knows, is ModHouse takes…time…
Gotcha, something else might be the ndh20 to consider, it would match your sonic preferences imo, but the comfort is meh from my experience, but they have great isolation
It took like 9 weeks for my argons lol
Yep,
It is totally worth the wait (i have heard a friends pair), but 1 popular man can only make them so fast
Ahhh,
Z’s reference headphone…hmmmm
Throw in a Dark Voice or Little Dot OTL and still keep in budget…plus the tubes would complement your Aeolus (and 58x to a lesser degree) too
I would personally say save a bit later on and get a hagerman tuba or a crack + speedball imo, that would give you more for your money imo, as it would be an upgrade over thx and not just something different to try
Thinking going with a more neutral/basic closed and change the sound with tubes?
Still want to get a closed back soon, since I won’t get my ModHouse’s anytime soon
I do like that idea. I will be switching between different headphones, depending on environment and music. (rather not spend, only to replace with something better later)
So i would like the ability to alter the audio
Thank you all for your suggestions and opinions.
I’m going to make a decision between the focal elegia and the Aeon 2.
It’ll be so much fun when I get some interesting tubes in the future
Since a deal just popped up for Elegias for 450, I decided to go with those. I will be looking at Aeon 2’s in the future
a great deal if you’re in the US
