Doubt it’s worth it but certainly nobody will be able to bitch about my AMP+DAC setup when I go to finally post a review video after auditioning them all and making my choice for solid-state setups.
I have a weird feeling that I’ll like the planars or the AKG or Shure. Guess we’ll find out.
If you are doing reviews people will always find a way to complain about your setup lol, it’s somewhat unavoidable tbh, but I do agree that having a solid dac and amp is worthwhile
It’ll just be nice to have a stack I can plug near-literally anything into and it’ll sound great.
Yeah the point of the review will be to audition the open-back $1000-$1500 price range on solid-state amplification, lotta good headphones in it. And it’ll be what you can actually typically get in that range, not MSRP.
Yeah, not even used but lots of “open box” listings. Ones that are usually 1500-2000 are roughly 1000 in reality so long as you’re not deadset on ordering new off Amazon or the retailer site.
Yeah just don’t go second guessing your gear. There will always be schiit fanboys and now these days thxAAA fan boys who will question your gear choice
I like what I like, that’ll be how it is. However I will note I have zero brand loyalty when it comes to audio gear. If this was an AMD vs Intel vs Nvidia conversation, that’d be different
I’m liking these the more I get used to how they render the scene around me, if that makes sense.
Far as cars go I really feel like you can’t go wrong with Subaru. But I do still like specific models of other brands.
Anyway, rendering is taking some time to get used to. With the HD6XX I could tell exactly where everyone was in the room, and this new soundstaging has me getting used to a new method. Honestly things feel pretty 2D right now, so I think that may be what the RNHP will remedy I do hope.
Either that or things are just SO 3D now that it’s over my head and I’m just processing it right now.
Ok good lol, I was a bit concerned when you said the clear is 2d, the soundstage also gets better with the rnhp, but I didn’t think the schiit would have been that bad lol
Yeah I couldn’t locate anything in the scene correctly. I eventually realized everything is inverted and I was like “now wait a doggon minute, they weren’t this weird a moment ago”. I listed to made in abyss the right way and all, but I did try swapping the cables to see what I like. Honestly I just wish there was a slightly longer straight cable but ah well.
Okay, so for now I actually prefer the HD6XX at the moment. Dunno why, must be the amplfication. But I also find them to be more comfortable too
Worth noting I have detached ears, so my ears prefer deep pads.
I’ll give them a spin again when the rest of my hardware comes in, but unless they really change under a different setup I have a feeling I may actually want to shop around a bit.
You do have to give some time to adjust to the clears signature, and constantly swapping back and forth to different headphones can disturb this process. Typically if I get something new, I put everything else down for like a week and pretty much use the new pair exclusively to really get myself used to the new headphone and fully acclimate to the new sound
I’ll try, but I think I’m a bit fatigued at the moment.
After quick-swapping around quite a bit between the Clear, HD6XX, K7XX, and SRH940, I feel I really like the K7XX the most to be honest, and like the SRH940 might’ve been my favorite if it had the open-back soundstage.
This has left me curious to try the K812 and SRH1840.
Not sure yet, have to wait to get the rest of the hardware.
