Looking to get my first audio setup

I would say that’s prob correct, it’s not a very refined headphone

hmmmm apparently the eq setting was on “drop the bass” switched to “flat” but now the sibilance is too much for me, lots of hissing and scratchy?
aaah i turned of surround…slightly better…still nore sibilance and high scratchyness im not loving…

Lol, so it’s also doing some dsp bs I guess

how would that cause what im hearing?

It’s using dsp to try and mask the imperfections of the driver

what is dsp and wow i hate my headphones surround function…both dolby and dts…i didnt enable intentionally…apparetly one of the buttons on here cycles though the options

DSP is digital signal processing, so it’s doing digital corrections to make up for the poor headphone quality.

Also digital surround is pretty bad imo

i noticed. i bought this set a couple years ago now, i wanted wireless…which i know now was stupid, didnt care about the surround but nothing wireless DIDNT have it at the time and were somewhat reasonably priced…also wanted the mic…also stupid…hell i dont even use the damn thing most of the time

so i keep seeing posts about the BTR5. it looks pretty sweet. any suggestions for an entry level set of IEMs to pair with it? Lets first say that my phone has no headphone jack >.< so…bluetooth receiver too?

…i swear this forum is going to pauper me…ive only been here 2 days lol

I recommend you don’t buy an AMP/DAC yet, since you have the ALC1220 that one should be able to drive both the 58X and 4XX properly, a friend of mine has the ALC1220 as well and he never goes over 20% with his VModas M100 or with the Logitech G533

I say you buy the headphones first and If you feel the sound is weak or not loud enough then you buy a DAC/AMP altho yes a DAC and AMP will improve the sound besides just loudness.

Also for the Logitech’s disable all surround shit on windows or in software and put that shit on flat, surround sound is gross and unholy!

Edit: THE 58X IS ONLY $135 RN AND THE 4XX ONLY $130, get them while the deal lasts people !!!

Yeah the surround was totally unintentional. My concern with the Mobo audio is that it’s just not high quality. If I’m spending 265$ on headphones, before tax, I want them to be driven properly and sound good. If I don’t do that and I don’t like or enjoy the headphones, then I’ve wasted my time and money. And all of your time too for that matter.

Fair enough, you are gonna buy a dac/amp anyway at some point it all depends on when you gonna buy it now or later :man_shrugging:
