Moondrop Space Travel 2 vs KZ Carol Pro (Battle of ultra-budget TWS)

I’ll be fairly short.

So I wanted a cheap TWS for work and to simply have the convenience of a TWS.

I chose the KZ Carol Pro a few months ago when it came out.

Now my GF wanted her own set of TWS and she likes the Carol Pro but the fit wasn’t quite working for her, and I saw the new Moondrop Space Travel 2 had just come out as well as a few raving reviews of it simultaneously, of course.

So it just arrived and thankfully it fits her better, as well as myself.

Now the sound, for anyone wondering… I have pretty vast IEM experience (having owned 45+ sets) with multiple kilobuck sets for reference.

There is simply no comparison. The KZ Carol Pro murders the Space Travel 2. The ST2 sounds low-fi, compressed and closed-in. The KZ Carol Pro sounds like $100-150 and the ST2 about what it costs.

If anyone wants me to go further into detail I can do that, but as I said, there is in all honesty no comparison for sound quality alone. And the KZ Carol Pro is cheaper to boot.

Conclusion: I don’t see any reason beyond being more styling to go for the ST2. Carol Pro is easily the choice here.

Crazy they even graphed these  Silly the amount of tech packed into such a tiny package. Vocal forward with a hit of bass

I have a few sets of $10 Tozo that sound fine for what they are…though they don’t have ANC nor do I use them for calls.

The graph is very decent and fitting for a TWS, you want some bass on the go.

What’s more is the hugely better driver KZ is using. It’s very obvious, as well as LDAC capability.

I’ve just been eyeing what TWS graphs there are on the squigbase today. I might switch down to a Pixel 8 from what I’m using to save a lot on the price difference, and if my beats fit pro won’t have ANC control etc with android (haven’t read into it yet) the older ‘Samsung Buds Pro’ have a graph that looks really good. A safe but decent IEM tuning. A lot of TWS graphs are crazy. More M or Grande Teton tuned than V tuned even… huge mound in mid bass and huge mound in upper mids.

Beats are owned by Apple now and their airpods dont work well on Android so I assume the same here.

Sounds like ANC works via app, which is all I care about (don’t care about head tracking or faux spatial effects)

So long as their pairing is as reliable as any other BT set I can probably keep them going.

That is a surprise coming from Apple.
