I’d also take a look at the Sennheiser IE 300 and the Tin P1. Both of them are TINY and will give you zero trouble on your side. Plenty of what’s being suggested here won’t work that well for laying on your side, if that’s a big concern.
Definitely not recommended. Due to this:
The P1 is extremely hard to drive.
Do you go to bed or take naps with your IEMs in your ears? Is that part of the reason why you want something with low impedance?
Sometimes i do due to outside noise. The low impedance requirement is for portability, so i can use my mobile devices without needing a good DAC or AMP to power them. Especially when in public transit.
I don’t mind high impedance on headphones though since these can be plugged in my DAC and AMP that’s plugged into my PC.
I wonder how the ThieAudio Legacy 2 stacks up to the Legacy 4’s. They look both good but i wonder how much improvement (or not) is there if you pick 4 instead of 2.
Currently, i have narrowed the IEM list down to 6 contestants, i think the LZ A7 is still on the top spot followed with the FH3 and the Legacy 2 and 4 afterwards. Mangird Teas and Audiosense T300 Pro are “Not sure if i want to buy” category now. I do still have to think a bit if the A7 will be my top choice though.
There are two threads for IEMs that have a tier list. Each of them should have over 1k posts.
I recommend visiting either one not because of the tier list themselves, but there is a good chance some members are active on the thread and chatting.
You can even ask for a Frequency Response graph for all of the IEMs you have in mind for a general idea for sound characteristics.
But the most important factor imo is that - should any member own an IEM you are interested in - they will give you a short review of the IEM to give you a better idea.
And since comfort is a priority for you, the people there will recommend ear tips, and quite possibly, IEM cables.
I was searching for an upgrade to the Blon BL-03 in sound & comfort, and I had the Thieaudio L2 and Moondrop Aria in mind. Thanks to both threads, I was able to make my decision and save up for the Thieaudio L2.
Hope that helps, and happy listening!
I’m thinking to go toward the LZ A7 since it’s very versatile and it could help me to find a better sound signature for my next IEM if i may ever upgrade.
However since it will be shipped from china, I’m hesitating to pull the trigger when it comes to warranty, if it breaks (like the MMCX connector, while i had no issues with the Shures, you never know if these could break on me). I have to play quite a bit of shipping cost (if i buy from Hifigo, they would cover the half of them according to their warranty policy) and wait quite a bit for them to return. (not the end of the world, i still have my Shures)
If i go with the Fiio FH3s for example, the warranty would be longer and the shipping is cheaper since there are webshops in my country shipping these.
I’m not sure if the costly warranty repairs are worth it. But this is something i have to take if i go for the LZ A7s.
@Rikudou_Goku , can you comment on longevity of the LZ A7s? For example the connector if i would like to replace the cable one day?
I dont have any issues with it and I have changed the cable once or twice. But I dont think I am a good source (and other reviewers) because I dont use it as much as a normal consumer would do. Simply due to the fact that I have a ton of gear to use, so my time gets spread thin between them.
I see, I’m not going to change the cable unless it gets in the way. So it shouldn’t be a problem in the long run i think since these S215s are still good connector wise and i’ve never changed the cable.
Sounds like you won’t have issues then.
Just bought the LZ A7 at Hifigo. When i received them, i will let you people know.
Very curious as to whether you’ll need to pay duties, I live in the Netherlands too and am still contemplating getting the A7 and I was also considering hifigo.
Also very curious to your thoughts about the sound ofcourse.
We’ll see, i used the priority shipping option so it should be good. The shipping was free as well which was strange.
Someone in the UK had not to pay the duties i think when it shipped there.
If i have to pay, i probably just avoid buying stuff outside of the EU as much as possible which i already do, but yeah. Hopefully it’s not much if i have to.
Hopefully they sound as nice as my HD600 since they cost about the same, but we’ll see.
Hi,
So I have been using the Lz A7 since last November, on my Samsung 9+, my hiby r3 pro and my desktop topping amp stack.
I have in my stable, the following;
Tin P1 -very good, very fast and agile with clarity, you hear everything. Bass is meh, but can be Eq to an extent.
Tin t2, starfields, kz 10 pro, it00 basso, blon 03 sit in their respective slots, and were a good introduction.
The LZ A7 is a solid workhorse, it lets you find out what sound you like.
Zero issues with connectors so far.
My only caveat is to make sure that you tighten the filters well, as they can occasionally loosen and fall off when not in your ears…e.g pocket.
The go to filters are generally the black and gold, but you’re rare or tastes may vary.
Solid first purchase, and if I’m honest you could happily walk away from the hobby and spend nothing else.
Enjoy them.
Just received my IEMs (LZ A7). 1.5 weeks after purchasing it.
The IEMs were send on Friday, 2 days after purchase and the whole shipping was 1 week and 1 day. Which is very fast delivery from China from my experience.
It was send using YunExpress, you get a tracking number in the e-mail from the shop. You can use the number to track it on https://www.yuntrack.com/ or on your prefered shipment tracking website or app. You don’t have to use 17TRACK to track the shipment.
When the package was arrived in my country, the package was handed over to DHL and you get a different tracking number which you can find on the YunTrack website with your tracking number.
After that, the delivery was quite early, around 11:30 (AM). I had NOT to pay any extra fees. It’s just like any package that you buy from a webshop in your country. So that’s good!
The box of the LZ A7 is also intact, i don’t see any dents and it’s still sealed.
I will try these IEMs soon.
Currently trying the LZ A7. They’re definitely bigger than the Shure SE215. It seems i still might be able to sleep with them though.
The cables are nothing like other cables lol, they seem very flexible and might not tangle that much. I think i prefer the earclips on the LZ A7s since the Shures sometimes makes my ear hurt with these.
Comfort is something to break in to, my right ear is quite itchy right now with all the inserting and taking them out. I think once i use them more often, they will be more comfortable like i had with my other IEMs in the past.
About the tips though, I’m not sure which ones i prefer, the medium size works for me the best. I think the wirlwind tips are my preferable though but i feel i need to try them more out. I may try to get some other tips to see if they seal better since i sometimes feel i don’t get a good seal of them. Not sure which ones to get though. Maybe the Spinfits since these worked well with my Shures and don’t fit on the LZ A7s (CP-100 Medium).
About the sound, definitely better than the Shures and up there with the HD600 i think. I need more time especially with the filters. I think for me long listen time session would work the best for me to get a taste of these filters.
Currently trying the silvers out and a little bit of gold, red and black. But once again i need more time before i can find the preferred one.
About the tips, i think i will stick with the green Sony Hybrid clone IEM tips for now which is also the stock tip that was on the IEM. They seal well and isolate better than the Shures i think. They’re also the most comfortable out of the 3 types.
I like the technicality of the silvers filters though. The drums sound clean when i played a metal track like Hazzerd - Victim of a Desperate Mind. But might be bright on other tracks.
Now trying the Reds in POP mode since they should sound like an improved FH3. I like the bass, not sure about the sharp tremble at the cymbals though.
I’m also thinking about trying different tips, i think i need soft ones as i cannot use the whirlwind cyan eartips for a long session. It kinda hurts in me ears although i like the kickdrum better on these.
Maybe Final Audio Type E tips (can get them for 23 euro’s from Amazon by buying the Final Audio E500) or the Spinfits CP145. Maybe there are also other tips i can consider?
Bought some Final Type E tips since i do feel I’d like to have a bit better kick-bass and the Sony Hybrid clones doesn’t feel enough sometimes, sometimes i also have seal issues i think so I’m going tot try some tips. If i don’t like these, i will get some Spinfits i think.
Currently trying Gold-POP since i feel the mids could be a bit more present. I like them so far, but the black-POP config looks tempting looking at the graphs.
Probably settled to the blacks. I find the golds and reds doesn’t give me the mids and highs like the EQd HD600 and the blues and silvers are too bright i think. Monitor vs POP is a different question though. I just might switch modes when i feel like it.
Also about the tips: I’m settled with Final Type E medium. I might try other tips later but that depends if these tips doesn’t give me seal issues with they don’t even i think they might. I guess that’s due to the venting that i’m kinda still not accusted to.
