Reccomended Portable AMP/DAC under $150-$200

so in theory any DAC can work since 16/44.1 is easy to do

Yes! Since I’m not editing or mastering, I haven’t looked into higher bit-depths.

I’m a little worried about wearing down the BTR5’s battery very quickly since it’s going to sit on a desk most of the time.
In that regard the Xduoo XD05 basic has a built in switch.

BUT it might be also useful to think about how much bulk you want because the xduoo is BIG and bulky

The sheer size and having to charge the bluetooth adapter seperatly are a bit annoying, but it seems better in the long run for my usecase and it’s user serviceable without having to resort to a heat-gun. It shouldn’t be too much of a hasle to travel with it or move it to another room to use with a laptop or even a phone.

Availability for Linsoul products is not the issue it seemed like it could be in EU. There is not much choice when it comes to retailers but at least the official german amazon site offers the XD05 basic and ships for a reasonable price. Turns out it’s about the same price I can find the BTR5 in local shops (not including the price of the bluetooth adapter).

One final question, does the XD05 basic require a driver for windows 10? The website has one but it would be sweet if it wasn’t necessary. Considering it works out of the box on Mac OS and Linux I’m confident OpenBSD should detect it too.

Thanks again to help me sort out my thoughts!

i’m finally going to actually buy the ampdac…

I’m either doing the ifi hipdac (the nanobl is kinda dated now) with an isilencer or jitterbug (the jitterbug makes things go to USB 2.0 and the manual says you should use 3.0 over 2.0) or the dragonfly red and jitterbug (because EISA award for the dragonfly cobalt and the recommendations it is constantly given to on websites)
