It’s all good man. I really do love those planar tunings. Literally all of them, even Fat Hippy which was like reverse tuned. Zero Ear Gain and all mids and bass. Sounded fucking wicked fun.
You should definitely consider making a planar set from the ground up someday if you haven’t already, I love the FUCK out of my Glamdring and can only imagine what you could do with a planar set built entirely from your hands ![]()
I would love to, I intend to as well, but since im a one-man show, I have to do one project at a time. Though I think things will go much faster now I that I have much much better modeling talents. Also learning 3D printing in terms of actual production parts has been challenging. I do feel like i’ve mastered DD tuning however. I tried literally everything I have been thinking of for years.
I have some shit in my box of tricks that are really cool, but need certain drivers, etc.
As far as multi driver IEMs, this is coming, but requires much more monetary investment, so for now im going for what i’ve learned so far.
The monkey on my back tells me to not chump out and rely on electronics. There are limitations to acoustics but even with them, I feel like in general using hemholtz resonators and precise venting yields better results in terms of actual sound replay.. not graphs.
Oh absolutely my friend, Anomaly is/was like moving a mountain on it’s own.
I think as far as those go, with your talents and skills you can easily make something without ESTs that blow sets with ESTs right put of the water. ![]()
As a way to find averages or middle grounds initially I don’t see the harm, in the end so long as your ears are doing a great job for us though that’s all that matters. ![]()
For me, the ‘analogue’ approach is what makes IEMs so much fun. Seeing what someone can accomplish without using DSP etc. I can imagine most of us here feel that way.
Yup, the shell is extremely vital to the sound. (and I count those 2 as the “shell” factor.)
aren’t all iems like that except for the dsp cable stuff.
or rather you meant seeing a single driver tuned to its maximum potential?
I was reading his comment as using something like DSP instead of his current approach (but maybe I misinterpreted, which is always a possibility with online fora of course).
nah you can tune without dsp, but like using crossovers with built in passthrough if using multi drivers for example.
Point taken. I equated ‘electronics’ with DSP and not the use of circuitry.
Very nice. I have been going through this thread and while understanding the broad strokes of the content, I will not even try and claim to understand the deep technicalities of what you are doing here. I just know I respect what you are doing and would love the opportunity to support the project by purchasing a set should something become available. Great stuff, man!
That Clear Cap is pretty sharp!
Totally, I dig it. I printed some clear shells and im kinda meh about them. I love this though.
I take it the clear version is just as indestructible as the rest?
I didn’t curb stomp it yet haha. It’s very tough ABS type clear. From working with it for 24 hours, im pretty happy. Very good stuff. And for full disclosure, the black resin is Resione K+ which im over the moon with in terms of sharp details and working parts. The blue is Anycubic ABS Type Pro v2.
[edit] I have a confession to make which kind of makes me wonder why im so stupid. I’ve been testing every prototype hiking for a few hours to more, doing extremely intensive high altitude stuff. I think I realized at some point, this is backfiring badly. The real way to test tunings is sitting still and relaxing. When im on a mission, the iems are not important, peak fever is. This ended up meaning I am huffing and puffing, getting hypoxic with low O2, and my brain goes right out my ass. I can’t hear treble that well when doing this so I tend to favor IEMs with more of it. Anomaly is not really like this except for tracks that have extended treble… soooooo.
The main point is know your limitations, mental state is extremely important doing real testing.
That would make for an awesome marketing vid. Curb stomp and continue listening.
It would haha, but jfc! I only stomped the shell, if it were to break id kill the drivers and im not into losing my precious few.
I think half this thread would get a heart attack if that were to happen.
