Shortbus Audio Anomaly (and more possibly)

I did try the Zenith set. It was ‘fine’ bordering on good. I have an extreme anti KZ bias and probably can’t overcome it. I wasted way way too much money in the early days when they were making the first cheap multi-ba sets. I also do not like how they have like 80 models for sale… clearly they are not doing a lot of R and D and I can’t deal.

As far as the bypass vent, it actually doesn’t affect treble, only lows. I can either use it as just a vent or a tuning thing.

I did manage to finally match the DM itself and then added a bit more subs due to my tuning features.
DM in Purple, im in Brown.

Max bass.

Now it’s time to repeat this tuning.

Further Refinements. I’m pretty happy with this overall, AND it was super super easy to build (thank god).

Nah, leave it lmao the graph looks killer btw

I thought some of your earlier IEM names was pretty hilarious, but this one is going to get a parental advisory stamp for sure :rofl:

Edit: And the graph looks great :eyes:

Looking better and better :fire:

Lets guess what is happening here:
Given: one iem, one tip, no change to anything on the 711, it stays put, only one change in what i’m doing

Change to source output impedance

Not changing source at all, only one thing.

Blocking a vent on the shell or maybe the filter behind the driver?

No changes to the iem physically, nothing whatsoever.

I’m just changing volume. Crazy… this is why this is a freaking Anomaly.

Damn built in equal loudness compensation (like what apple does I think with their airpods) in a wired iem??

Yes but tbh it does the opposite of what it should. the forward pinna graph is loud, nice pinna, low volume

Unexpected!

Good catch, now try to reverse that, lol.
I think we’d be in for some more surprises if folks started to graph IEMs at different input/output levels.

Thing is i’ve done this before. I have never found an IEM that actually measures differently at different volumes. I was just messing around graphing stuff and accidentially set my volume super low… realized the graph wasn’t the same.

I got work to do now to fix this.

And this is with a really low output impedance on the source? Do you have a freq vs impedance curve for the headphones? Would be interesting to see
