I think the build quality and reliability are not a problem, but the signature can be a bit hit or miss. The DT177x GO are a pretty well tuned closed back imo that is very comfy and good sounding. It might be a bit hard for you to get ahold of one though
Instead of the closed back option some iem’s can give them a massive kick in the ass $ per $ when it comes to sound imho.
Also true, if you find them comfortable
And also man your new pfp threw me off
Lol Lol Lol and Lol… the 20 rule

Edited as that link didn’t work well…
I’ve thought about IEMs, but the thing is with basic IEMs like those bundled with phones (my Note 9 is a good example) I’ve never found a good fit. I’ve heard good things about the Tin T2 (including the foam tips), so maybe I’ll buy one of those.
So I’ve basically narrowed things down to the following choices, but I can always be talked into others if I’m wrong:
- (used) Sennheiser HD660S. Watching Z’s review and some other threads here and elsewhere… I’m intrigued by how good they can be gaming.
- Neumann NDH20s. I know M0N recommended the 177X Gos, but given Beyerdynamic’s reputation I’m not sure they really can be the all-in-one cans these have to be if they’re my office cans.
- Focal Elex. If they go back down to 600 I’ll strongly consider them, and they seem to be just as much an all-rounder as the HD6XX is.
Also more random questions:
- Is there any other headphone with the characteristics I’m looking for that I really should consider?
- How much better do things get if I went all-in for, say, an Auteur or Aeolus?
I really would hesitate to call the 6xx an all rounder for reasons as weak imaging , not a lot of bass presence , and narrow soundstage that it really doesn’t do much that I would do aside from specific types of music.
When I bought the HD6xx I wasn’t as aware of their shortcomings as I am now, so… I guess I got used to them. Now I’m more aware of them - especially the imaging - but those shortcomings collectively don’t really bother me the way, say, the sound signature of my 560s do at times.
Not sure if it fits within your guidelines, but my out and about/work headphones are my Meze 99 Classic’s. Sound great (bassy, if you like that), look great and ridiculously easy to drive. Work Great out of my LG V30.
Pretty good isolation which means it will keep co-worker noise out but if you need to communicate with co-workers, it won’t work. I just use them at lunch time.
