Yes. It’s subtle but it’s there. Occasionally a hi-hat ride will show off the difference, with the 320 sounding more compressed - like bad YouTube audio but not quite as noticeable. Also, listen for imaging and soundstaging. That’s usually where the difference comes out the most.
Now I just need to know if that’s worth no free Hulu or showtime, no jqbx with friends, and 5 more dollars
Lol. Can’t help you on that one. I keep seeing ads that Tidal is doing a 4 months for $4 promotion. From the ad it’s unclear if that’s 4$/mo for 4 months or $4 total for the 4 months. Either way, good promo to play with.
Thanks that really helped
so far noticing absolutely no difference
Deezer has a bug for a couple of weeks now where every song you start stops after 2-3 seconds and you need to play another one, it works, then go back to your initial song, and then it works.
It’s also inconsistent where it sometimes works very well, faster than Tidal used to.
You had one job Deezer, play music.
yep i literally cant tell a difference between 320 MP3 and lossless and MQA
i am a bad gamer who needs to get good
NOTE: finally might have noticed a little more warmth in a lady gaga album on tidal than spotify… i dunno if thats a volume thing because the volume is wonky on spotify and tidal is too quiet unless at highest volume… but i do feel like its a little warmer
Tidal it’s not available in my country… so insert hand find one app… Deezer it sounds better than iTunes for sure and Spotify close… they have a trial… most expensive plan it’s about $11…
You need good setup , you can clearly get the difference. Once u hear it, u cant go back.
VPN normally works for tidal .
i did notice alejandro was kinda softer on tidal (i dont have a bad setup just not a perfect one… i need to get a dac and an audioquest jitterbug-even if i dont know where to put it in a USB C to USB A setup- and then maybe i can get full use out of the 58X)
Then the Jitterbug (or iFi Isilencer3.0) plugs into that.
The question is more if I need to use another cable to make the length longer
my issue with qobuz is that tbh its very much expensive and unlike tidal or spotify premium there is absolutely no student discount that would lower it to the 10 dollar range i’d be fine with…
for my FLAC player i just use foobar but i have been thinking about going to Jriver because it seems more intuitive and less clunky… i’m not goot at skins… i like the way itunes shows the album art and organization by artist then year but i also am used to the filters on stock collumns UI
May i know if i can connect my iphone via lightning to 3.5mm jack to my edifier 3000 , and it will decode MQA ??
iphone - cable - speaker >> will it give masters quality ?
Also please could anyone suggest me if any other cable works , if this doesnt work.
MQA decoding is rather complicated. It’s done in 2 “folds” where each fold is a level of decoding that the DAC unfolds to get the signal to get back to the originally encoded version. The Tidal iOS app (and Android, Windows, and Mac OS apps for that matter) will only do the first unfold. You need an MQA certified DAC to do a full unfold. The first fold will give you up to a 24-bit 96-KHz signal, but it won’t be quite the quality equivalent of a full 24/96 file you download from something like HDTracks (it’s pretty darn close, though). In theory, if you have a DAC that does the full unfolding (both unfolds) the signal from Tidal will be indistinguishable from an HD master. Thus, the direct answer to your question is “partially”. You will get a very high qualtiy signal - at least CD quality anyway - using the connection method you just described. To get the full unfolding, you’ll need an MQA DAC. Low cost options that have a line out include the iFi Zen DAC and the Dragonfly Black, Red, or Cobalt. I cannot vouch for the compatibility of any of these DACs with iOS USB, though. Hope this helps.
from what i know the dragonfly series should work amazingly with the Iphone (though apple should just join the USB-C club already). the zen dac i dont quite know about…
@Jeevan_Hops can i ask you where you are getting the MQA content from, is it tidal or is it from a download off a hires site like highresaudio
if you’re using tidal it should do MQA off a dragonfly easily since that just does the 2nd unfold… if its a download something like an IFI product would be needed
tidal . thy dont have download feature on desktop app ,very annoying.
a dragonfly would work perfectly… its reasonably priced and does MQA… the only other choice is maybe the hip-dac…
depends on if you want to use the first tidal fold or have the dac to do both
doesnt speaker dac unfold the second time ?
sadly no… some amps do but not all
Just cancelled Deezer Hifi, couldn’t get over the playback issues. Also a lot of popping/cracking when seeking in a song/skipping songs. I kinda liked the UI more than Tidal’s.
This crap has been going on constantly for the last 2-3 weeks:
