ifi xDSD is what I use for mqa unfold with the Android App USB Audio Player Pro - you have to unlock mqa for a few dollars in the app
you have to use the app and log in to Tidal via the USB Audio Player Pro App
so I get the full mqa unfold

Spotify++ ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
I listen through iTunes. Being it comes with my Verizon Unlimited plan. Anyways I listen to electronic music don’t need the higher resolution. Anything acoustic I just buy Flac off HDTracks. Checking Tidal and I’d be wasting money.
I mainly use Tidal, but also Foobar for bootlegs and other high quality vynil rips. I personally don’t believe in anything above FLAC, and i prefer to steer clear of the MQA debacle. I use my iFi iDSD BL daily and I personally couldn’t be happier with it, paired to my pair of Elex’s, it’s really a great experience.
After the 15 days trial I went for Tidal Hifi and I am very happy with it… until I tried Qobuz two days ago and realized the sound was better than with Tidal (clearer, more precise and analytical). The big drawback is the really subpar Qobuz android app and the more limited choice of music. Now the dilemma begins…
Because I live in Asia, Spotify is about the best option i have for streaming.
is it the tracks im playing or the quality of tidal that i hear crackling sound here and there?
first month into subscription… think i will just call it
As of now I am using amazon again as they are now offering lossless 24 bit/96khz
Well…Tidal and Amazon were my favorites but as Apple stops supporting their older Ipads, laptops and phones I seem to be running out of devices that support both Tidal and Amazon music streaming services and am forced to use Spotify and Pandora depending on which device i have on hand and which room i’m in🤬
BTW i currently have one mac book that needs a good home for cheap money.
Saw this out there. If you pre-pay for Tidal for a year you can get a free Sennheiser IE 80S or Sennheiser HD 4.50BTNC
I wrote above that I am a Spotify premium user for some years (I have tried Tidal too) now and I will continue to be BUT for some weeks now I am trying Qobuz. The difference in quality is quite obvious to the better. Actually I have almost stoped listening to my almost 2TB flac local library. I can find almost everything I like to hear (“classical” in all of its forms, jazz, ethnic, including the labels I like) and in higher rez many times. Also I find many new great works I was not aware of. I use LMS (with the Spotify and Qobuz plugins) so the interface of the Qobuz apps is not an issue for me.
Unfortunately I won’t be able to be a long term subscriber but the sound is much better than everything I tried including Tidal.
If sound is the priority I think that there is no rival. In their “Studio 24/192” plan of course! My 2c…
Also for you American guys there is a great discount these days. I think it’s still going…
Doesn’t qubuzz use mqa? I don’t have an mqa capable DAC. however Amazon music offers Ultra HD which doesn’t require mqa. Not to mention mqa is a lossless format. have you tried Amazon music?
I use tidal hifi because they have regional pricing, so the “hifi” plan is only 10$.
I’d like to try Qobuz but the prices for their highest plan are absurd for me at 25GBP.
Can’t say I like Tidal that much, it’s missing songs and the stream cuts out more often than I’d like. Seeking is low, skip to next song is slow, play/pause is slow. It’s not an internet issue, I can stream 4k on youtube no problem.
I would jump instantly if Spotify got flac/hirez or if Qobuz adjusted prices. Would really love the feature to control desktop player from my phone, instead of messing around with the poor signal on the BTR3.
No not last I checked, Tidal uses the MQA, Qobuz was not using it if memory serves me correct.
Thanks for protecting the country btw
Qobuz does not use MQA. IMO, that’s the biggest draw to them over Tidal.
I like qobuz, I don’t stream so I haven’t used it but I know that you can actually BUY the tracks there too. I can stand behind that 100%
Pretty sure mqa is a lossy format, not that there’s anything wrong with that
pretty good deal, sell those headphones on eBay and save some money!
I listen to CDs at work a lot since our network blocks most streaming services. If I want to stream, I use Apple Music with my phone. Sometimes I use YouTube (mostly from internet links). I had a Tidal account for a while, but I didn’t need it at the same time as Apple Music. At home, I mostly listen to vinyl and CD’s with Apple Music for streaming and Foobar for FLAC playback.
