I have an Eikon review. I’m mobile right now so link isn’t easy. They check your sound boxes but I wouldn’t rec them for OTG use or to drive with daps. They don’t isolate particularly well and the 300 ohm impedance might be a challenge for mobile devices.
Eikons are really nice. They’re not exactly lightweight, but I found them very comfortable. I had them paired primarily with either an LTA MZ2 or Vio V281, of which the MZ2 edged the V281 slightly on synergy. For sound, Eikons are fairly linear, leaning a little warm, and pretty fun. Extension is especially good on the lower end, but it does have some sparkle up top, just not in a forward way. Impact/slam is solid, I’d say in the neighborhood of other biodyna drivers like in the Nighthawks or Fostex/Denon, but not as hot in the treble region as the Fosters, and not as warm as the Nighthawks. Detail was solid, presenting the stage in a pretty realistic way. They sound more open than I expected for a closed back.
Shoot, I forgot why i ruled them out to begin with. 300ohms. Shoot shoot shoot. I guess i need another excuse to buy the cherry ZMFs.
I took a look at the t5p, correct me if im wrong but it looks like its not the easiest candidate for recabling?
Not sure what you mean? They feature 3.5mm inputs, which is pretty much the most common jack you can get.
I use my Hart Audio cables with mine. Are you referring to needing the long tips like T5p.2’s and Meze? That has not been the case for me so far.
Let me know if that is what you Are talking about and if so, I can try some other 3.5mm cables I have laying around.
Ahhh ok. Pictures make it look like its molded into the cup and you would need to drill out and put in a new jack. But, that is why i ask and not why i assume on pics.
Can they be made balanced with a cable swap or do they need extra work?
How are the pads?
Just a simple cable swap. I LOVE my Hart system as it makes cable mgmt. so easy.
When I first saw the pads they looked thin and I wondered about that. But they have turned out to be very comfortable and I tend to listen to 'phones for 6 to 8 hours per day.
I ended up getting a nice deal on a Radiance thst had badically 0 hours on them. Theyre not so great with the R6 2020 but theyre warmth heaven with the Cowon Plenue S. The ultrasone hfi780s now sound a bit like a plastic toy and are relegated to yard duty
