šŸ”¶ Thieaudio Legacy 3

If you wish you may reread my review. I never exerienced a set of IEM or Headphones that changes audio at least 2 times since I got it and I already played pink noise for 8h. It is now okay but an HD800. The UTWS1 is the worst garbage! DONT BUY and also Treble still sucks because it gets cut off and doesnt roll off like the bloated-bassy audio technica E70. The Custom seem to have higher quality and are better than Ultimate Ears 6 if the describtion @IEMusic is accurate if you can live with bad highs which actually made my tinitus go up for 3 days again. I got it from construction work when I was 11 and did not know it wasnt just my strange brain but non chronic one. Now I am 24 and can live with the same tone but IEM always made me raise the volume more than over ear. I am curious how got the isolation is because before today it was like 5 db. now it is max 15 db. Neumann NDH20 feel like 25-30 db with audio and without I can not hear my mx brown keyboard. L3 still let sounds in. Listening to REOL (japanes solo artist - kinda Idol but not) I could even imagine it being good for stage but here rather pay more for UE to get free retinkering and free shipine i.e. in Germany I would get help from Thomann and Music Store depending which store I prefer. Bass needs a hard boost for bass players I’d say. Mids good but still highs unusable. I never thought IEM need this much of a burn-in.

Before today P1 sounded like having more soundstage and space in general but actually being needle thin which made me dizzy like never before except trying the awful Facebook VR which did not fit my head. Sub bass may be the weakes because compared to Starfields which are the S Tier IEM by far. Kills all expensive headphones even in sparkle but do not fit my ears at all including UTWS1 which destroy 2 pin ear fits!

no problem. I am en route to test new gear. THX seems fine but tbh razer slaps their name on all their tech and it is just sad. Schiit seems to be the best choice currently DAC and AMP in one purchase someday.

Torn between Urbanfun YBF and this one. Is there really a big difference? I’m getting the L3 for 65usd though

Hey welcome to HFGF
Personally I wouldn’t touch the YBF way too many inconsistencies and QC issues.

Thank you!
Too bad, but assuming if i did get a good YBF, is it better than L3?

It’s still a bit of a lottery when it comes to Chifi set’s qc and to some extent customer service, I can’t comment on whether or not the L3 is better sound wise as I’ve not personally heard it but Theiaudio seem to do well with qc?.. but maybe don’t get it directly from Linsoul incase of any issues as they seem to be pretty bad at customer service as of late…They should available from other sources AliExpress and depending on which country fulfilled by Amazon :+1:

So L3 is kind of example of bad qc as there are multiple tunings for this set and you never know which you will get.
I do really like my set just wanted to point out that L3 is similar lottery as ybf

Anyone here experienced a similar problem on their Legacy 3? I have never dropped it nor handled it roughly.

I was offered a warranty replacement if I send mine back but I’m afraid I would not get a similar-sounding set because I like how my set sounds ._. I’ve heard of someone sending their set back and getting one in exchange that sounds different…

The L3 seems to have problems with the QC more often.

Mine came with a loose driver in the left earbud.
Returning or changing it via Amazon was less of a problem.

QC for both the YBF and L3 have been very problematic. If getting either one of them, and you are able to, get it via Amazon (where it’s fulfilled by Amazon), then if you get a defective unit, returns/exchanges are easy. The bass on the YBF is what’s very special sounding, however, overall, I find the sound of the L3 to be more balanced, and can suit all genres of music. One of the big issues with the L3 seems to be quite a lot of sample variation with the sound.

The cracked qdc sockets is a known problem with the L3 sets that have such a socket. Mine have multiple fractures, but have not broken as of yet, and I haven’t handled them roughly at all. FWIW, it seems to be an issue in general with qdc sockets, such as on KZ and CCA IEMs as well. My KZ ZSX also has fractures, and I’ve hardly used them.

From what Iā€˜ve noticed, it seems that QC issues have plagued the L3, but not any of the other ThieAudio products, to any significant degree. Of course I think it is by far their most sold product of the lineup as well.

Sorry, I’m late to the party I’ve been listening to these for a month or 2 and will have a review up soon. I’ve been swamped lately.

Some thoughts that I have. I like them right away. I found they sounded a more rounded detail sound compared to something like a T2.

I also noticed that people are saying they received sets that sounded different. I wonder if the little eq toggle was turned the same way when they were molded. I love the Chi-Fi as far as value for sound when they are built correctly. I’ve noticed that CQ isn’t always their strong suite. With that said has anyone reversed the toggles the opposite direction to see if that got the sound of the original set?

Forgive me as I’m kind of speed reading through the post but has anyone played with the EQ/ profile toggle switches. I noticed a sizable difference depending on where they are set and I think depending on the genre you listen to the dip switch profile changer could be a game changer, especially if you want a solid budget set of IEM and listen to wildly different genera like I do.

I’ve been considering the legacy 3, but i think I’ll just stay on blon 03, don’t want to gamble my money and even more on after sales shipping

I have definitely enjoyed my L3 from release until about now. Took me that long to realize their sound is more colored/masked than I’d like, and now they are in a likely losing battle with my FH3, H40 and Tape Pro. We’ll see once the TP arrives, but right now this FH3 kicks some serious ass. Its got that kind of straight-shooting, unfiltered no-noncents presentation I think I’ve been hunting four. Stuff sounds real again. The definition/texture and note weight is just beautiful. These are a game-changer. Hell, these could be LIFE-changing…! (That H40 got mad base, tho o_o)

I bought L3 Clockwork version on Amazon a few months ago.

Since two days I get noisy vibrations/buzz sound on the left side, at low frequencies…
I would like to contact Thieaudio but their web site does not show anything when looking at their contact page.

Does someone know how to reach them?

Write to linsoul as it is theirs house brand. But don’t expect miracles. Was it fulfilled by amazon? If so I guess amazon covers warranty.

My review of ThieAudio Legacy 3 https://tlrtechnology.com/2020/12/11/thieaudio-legacy-3-review-one-word-presence/

Thanks for your reply

Yes I contacted Amazon and they are ok to get the L3 back and reimburse me.
I went for another model then: IKKO OH10.
Hoping the QAC will be better…

Cool that is a benefit of buying through amazon. I mostly buy directly from linsoul as amazon doesn’t fulfill all what they sell.

So far i have been lucky and had only one big delay when covid started and all was solved at the end. I love my L3.

Ikko should be built like a tank so hopefully you will have no issues and will enjoy them.

Is the whole unit variance thing solved yet for these? And if so, is the now consistent variant the good or the not so good one?

Just got these. Listened for an hour or two. I’m surprised to find an IEM that I think is comfortable, sounds good, and has a nice cable. Hasn’t been my experience up to this point.

I’ve got the Starfields coming for a comparison. Hard to imagine they beat the L3, but we’ll see.
