This is maybe a strange pick, but I have a huge soft spot for the build up of Lionel Hampton’s “Lavender Coffin,” which doesn’t really get going until 45 seconds into the song:

(Jonathan Stout’s band played an awesome live version of this at the last Camp Hollywood in 2019, but I don’t think it’s available as a recording anywhere. :frowning:)

I primarly listen to VGM and there’s LOTS AND LOTS of insanely good candidate, but I HAVE to give it to Summit from Celeste

It just works everytime no matter how many times I listen to it.

Yeah…

Ok, i have an obscure one unless you are French.
This is from the soundtrack to the movie Taxi.
The song start with a phone call and once he starts talking he gets into the chorus of the song.

Ooh this is pretty nice

The bass profoundos on this song are absolutely on a whole different level

Does this count as an intro if there are no vocals?
Great intro, great song. and it’s live.

Never fails to get my feet tapping

I always thought Incubus was underrated.

I was listening to “you took the words right out of my mouth” on repeat last week!

Over Now by Alice in Chains has a really cool and somber opening
