What did you buy today? (Part 2)

AAC on apple is actually extremely well implemented.

Yeah I knew LDAC does not live up to the ā€œhypeā€ train but as I’ve only ever used AAC due to being buried deep in the Apple ecosystem for 25+years I wanted to try LDAC for myself to satisfy my curiosity, especially with the much heralded Questyle Dongle Pro.

Now that I’m satisfied that I’m missing out on the grand sum of sweet f-all using AAC with my Qudelix 5k I guess I don’t really need the complication of another dongle hanging from my iPhone’s USB-C port. I guess I’ll be returning it, especially as anything more than 8ft away from my iPhone and the max 990kbps LDAC signal begins to stutter and break up which is rather pathetic.

Shame, as I found the perfect storage solution so I don’t lose the dongle, connect it to my Qudelix 5k and I’ll never lose/forget it.

I technically bought these 3 items but I didn’t get them today, more like got them for like weeks ago.

The first one, which is the Kinera Celest Wyvern Black Remastered (Yes, I will always type it as remastered for having the title called ā€œRemasterā€ just does not make any sense.) I bought it due to having this excuse because of its cable. I think this set is one of the times that I was like ā€œYeah, I should have had bought a cable instead.ā€ For I already have budget IEMs that are much better than this set.

The second one is a hoop shoe, yes I do hoop when I have the time to do so. To those who are curious it’s the Anta Kai 1 Speed, I bought it because it had a discount and as well as an excuse to replace the other hoop shoe that I have on which its outsole is pretty much gone.

Third one is self-explanatory, the cable from XINHS which I bought for my EPZ P50. Sure the stock cable of the EPZ P50 is already decent, but it’s a bit janky for me and doesn’t behave particularly well, and add the factor of its termination plug having an another 4.4mm instead of the 3.5mm which I think is an error from EPZ. Hence, a cable like this is being bought.

Hello people, it has been a while and let me post something that is a bit positive after that negative expression that I’ve had with my Aful Performer 7.

So I have bought 2 sets and I admit I am broke right now since it’s like on sale so I have to treat myself for I know I am not getting gifts anymore, so I have gifted myself. I’ve decided to try the Ziigaat Lush and an unknown brand that I haven’t heard of called, Leteciel and man! I am so glad a seller convinced me to try this set for it’s so damn good and probably better than the Lush in my opinion.

I also love its color and probably prettier than my Lush and yes, even the sounds and tuning that I prefer are more into my liking compared to the Lush. If you’re curious about the name, it’s called the Leteciel Magiris, and to me, this is a hidden gem because man, that set surprised me a lot. Therefore it will have the honor on getting a custom cable with swappable termination.

And that is the stock cable of the Magiris which I wish has a swappable termination for it’s already looking gorgeous! But man, I think XINHS can replicate this look, I’ll order a custom cable from them once I have the funds lol.

yeah seen xinhs with that cable iirc. Or maybe it was Hakugei.

Thank you for the info, I’ll be sure to look up for it. And no, I will never spend like 100USD for a damn cable ever.

Good. Sweet spot is usually around 20-30 usd.

Because of the NAND Flash shortage bought 4 pcs of these. I’ve already seen the price bumps happening and it’s better to have some extra on standby.

Good idea, and if you need ram go buy them asap.

I got several ram sets in storage so I’ve got no problems with shortage there. SSD’s are where I need to grab more of since I’ve built 2 NAS systems the past couple of months and my surplus ran out.

I scooped a Samsung 9100 Pro 4tb w/ heatsink two days ago for the same reason. Wanted more room on my primary drive and I still hadn’t gone higher than PCIE 3.0 (even though I have a PCIE 5.0 mobo now, last drive was bought in 2020) and I didn’t want to risk price hikes.

I am REALLY lucky that I got all the ram i need for my servers. 64GB on my unraid and 96gb on my incoming mini pc (proxmox). That 96gb kit I got for around 270 usd and is now at least 550 usd. The 64gb kit i got at around 200 usd is not at leas 350 usd.

Gen 5 nvme is really pointless and imo just worse…
As for heatsink, i would prefer to just use a 3rd party one from Aliexpress.

Compared to my old Adata drive, the speeds for windows and programs is night and day. I probably would have been fine with PCIE 4.0 but I figured what the hey, and the thermals are good so far so :person_shrugging: . I tend to go above and beyond my needs when I do upgrades.

Regarding the heatsink, yeah, I could’ve gotten a 3rd party one but the price difference was minimal so I was lazy and just got it. I suspect it’ll be fine.

It’s not really about the Gen 3 vs Gen 4 vs Gen 5 speed. But what type of NAND was used in the package. Typically cheaper SSD’s use QLC and they are slower compared to TLC. Then there are also SSD’s with 3D Cache which is better when used as a BOOT drive. I primarily used Samsung 990 Pro on all the systems I’ve built this year. And I use TLC with 3D Cache on my NAS mainly because I go through 300-500GB of data a week since I work with a lot of Footage.

Paying for Gen 5 is a waste of money when you aren’t really using them on current use cases. Get a Gen 3 or 4 with a TLC Nand if you’re working with a lot of data. and Just get a cheaper QLC one if the only use case is storage and gaming.

issue with gen 5 is that they got so damn warm, that it might throttle earlier than with gen 4 so you may end up with the same or worse speed while paying more for it.

Noted for the future, thanks for the tips!

I had read about this; didn’t run into any throttling that I could see after installation, but I’ll keep an eye on it. I’ve got good airflow in the case and that’s one of the reasons I wanted a heatsink (stock or 3rd party) for sure. I also don’t do a whole lot of massive data migrations on a regular basis so I don’t suspect that I’ll see too much throttling on average; it’s true that I probably could have just gone Gen 4 but I felt like splurging a little.

Use this site, they got lots of data.

This is 2tb version though but you can probably still use that to compare with other 2tb drive and then get the best drive in the capacity you want.
