When Did You Realize You Had Arrived?

Sadly, Dianas can be quite electronic picky as well. I demo’ed a pair and didn’t have high-tier stuff at the time and it sounded frankly boring. It was unfortunate.

Yeah I realize that. Will pick up a LP which people have said is good enough. In ten years when I can spend 3K again, I’ll buy a better amp.

I knew I’d arrived when I heard my 1st pair of…STAX.!

  1. I no longer feel my gear is insufficient. I no longer feel I need to upgrade ASAP. I love my Elex’s, Sundara’s and Senns on my LP. And I love everything on the Violectric.

I am still curious about the LCD-2 Classic’s, the CFA Cascades and other high end headphones, but it’s not a big deal. Same with a better DAC.

I am sure I will buy another pair of something before New Years Eve, but I don’t feel that I need to.

Started from hunting for bass cannons but arrived at the Beyerdynamic sound.

Dt770 600ohm was the first pair of headphones where I felt audio bliss after coming from the original ath-m50. The sound was what I was looking for but I’d have to get used to the treble and I did. Climbed down the rabbit hole a little more and got a pair of dt880s 600 ohm after the 770s and that was when I didn’t see a point in buying anything else. But I bought a pair of t50rp after that anyway to mod for some extra bass and that was it for me from ~10 years ago. Now I’m back on the forums hunting for something to replace t50rp which will probably be t60 argons if I could ever get my hands on them.

Felt like I arrived again after replacing my old amp with an emotiva basx a-100 at a very nice price this year and adding the dt990 600 ohm to the collection.

But now I’m looking at the tygr300r and mmx 300 because I started watching zeos do his thing again and I just have to have more Beyerdynamic headphones now I guess… Want the nighthawks some day to feel some of that warmth.

I started about a decade ago as well - with 2 channel home audio as a hobby anyway. I was interested in stereos as a kid, but it wasnt a hobby I spend tons of money and time on.

When I first felt glued to my seat was about 2 years into it I had Acoustic Zen Adagio speakers, Hegel HD12 DAC, Amarro A318B SET amp and laptop running Jriver.

After that I purchased Hifiman HE400 (original version) with a Burson Conductor HA160D Class A amp and DAC for my office. I also got a pair of AKG Q701 (hated them at the time) with an Audioengine B1 and FiiO X3ii for on the go.

I sold all the headphone stuff and wasn’t interested in it again until a few years later when I started working at a shop and noticed headphones really progressing.

This is it, my budget summit I’ve been looking for: ESP/95X. I can’t really fault anything about it. Rather, I feel my ears are letting it down. I’m still going through the hype, but it’s scary how well the 95X’s tonality and technical ability matches my preferences. I thought these were going to be headphones I’ll reserve for special duty, but everything sounds good through it. Poor recordings, bad ones, classical, hardcore, vocals, etc.

I don’t feel like I really need any other headphone for sound. I still want to pick up a planar and some other noteworthy <$250 'phones just for collectability and niche use, but not much reason than that now. Maybe some new amps, DACs, IEMS, etc, but my sonic cravings are wholly satisfied by these Koss.

After trying all the 60 ohm on ears and now the 95X I think I can now consider myself a Koss shill. :^)
