Mmm. 7506s are a little rough. They’re meant for monitoring and mixing. They do sound quite good though with that taken into account. They are not compatible with a mic, unless it is standalone.
However, through a decent source / amp, these things sound pretty fucking good, even compared to my better cans.
Also, for reference, I used the 7506s for 8 years? Middle school for first two years of college as my every day cans (cause I had a leftover pair from some adhd aural training bullshit). They survived a lot of abuse and left enough of a lasting impression to snag another pair.
arctis is not bass extreme. Would not recommend for bass extremist. Is a balanced headphone (though with a lot of flaws comparitively). Doesn’t do poorly with bass, just not a ‘fuck you here’s a vibrating head’ type of headphone.
alright well, what would you recommend then for a bass extreme and for the other who would be willing to go a headphone like i explained. Also I did have a question involving the sundara… one of the more annoyances I experienced with the 400i is the small earcup size for me… when I put them on the top of the pad would consistantly rub over the top of my ear and made it fairly uncomfortable for wear… didnt know if the sundara shared the same ear cups… and if it did if these were replaceable with some form of fix to that issue.
yea . The problem is going into full basshead territory for a gamer means you sacrifice a lot of detail and ability to hear footsteps (unless more money (was a big dissapointment for me searching for headphones initially)). I can’t think of a basshead headphone under $300 that’s good for games with a mic. 7506 has some good bass (surprisingly), good detail, and good imaging but no mic and not the most comfortable for 8hr gaming sessions lol.
For the 400i fit issues. My 4xx rubs against my ear, but it’s not that aggravating for me. The Sundara does not with rare exception. If your ears are bigger, or your headshape is much different from mine, you might not experience the same level of comfort that I get with the sundara. The sundara’s earcups are slightly larger, maybe 1cm? mayyyybe.
Don’t know about how they fare against those except that everything I’ve heard has the Sundara in front of the 58x (either by a little or by a significant margin) (same with the 600/650). Depends on what sound you like and what you’re using for amplification afaik. I can’t actually comment on it though since I haven’t gotten my hands on any sennheisers yet.
hmm, I suppose I can recommend the fidelio x2 hr then as I know it has fairly moderate bass tones. The arctis pro with its gamedac if you alter its eq can have some heavier bass not the greatest but its there really limits things for a full on basshead. I guess I will have to seek out someone who has both 58x and sundara then maybe someone else here on the forum has them both and can give some constructive criticism as they fall in almost the same category but those 58x are nothing to scoff at… they are highly reviewed in the gaming community and are close to the dt 990s level as far as ive seen which are considered some of the best. I will say buying a hifiman has me a bit concerned since their headphones suffer from driver failures and other mishaps on a regular.
Haven’t had any issues with mine. That was my big concern with grabbing the sundaras compared to 600s/650s. However, grab the Headphones.com ones and you have a 365 day return + the warranty.
I also debated between 990s and 58x’s/6xx’s. Grabbed 990s and don’t regret it. I wanted more extension, tightness, and accuracy than punch. Right now, if I want punch, I just throw on my 7506s and eq up the bass a couple decibels
However, if it’s a comfort thing, I can’t comment. I’m fine with slight discomfort as long as I’m not wincing in pain.
AW WHAT sundaras were on sale there for $259 out of stock! Damn! I think the other differences tho too with the 58x jubilee is its low ohm… people say it works fine without an amp
Tried the game ones which is where the pc37x comes from. They are reminiscent of my original headset the hyperx cloud first generations. The issue I have with them is the mics ultra sensitivity… if you play louder sounds in the headphones you can get some bleed through into the mic while its not as extreme as the hyperx had as an issue its still there… I didn’t have that issue when I tested the gsp 500 or steel series roster its just mainly with the game one, clouds, and pc37x which is why I tend not to recommend them less you need a dirt cheap beginners gaming headset with good quality.
Needless to say to sum this up a bit more, I ended up recommending quite a few for them… the bass extremist ended up trying the fidelio x2 hr while I was with him but we ended up with a Audio-Technica ATH-WS1100iS Solid Bass of which he has decided to definitely keep and is now wanting to upgrade to a J.V.C with its subwoofer bass. The one wanting a more balanced approach went with steel series arctis pro and its gamedac and he really enjoys it apparently, I let him try my old pair I had laying around of the arctis 7 and he fell in love with it. As for the one who was more picky the third person over there… hes still in the process of trying on headphones he may end up like me using the beyers but he prefers closed back so hes currently in the process of trying the dt 770s to start with and go from there though I did tell him the mids are recessed and he may not find as much enjoyment… its a good starting point. As for me… I am digging around looking at a ton of headphones… sundara right now is to expensive less I can find it on sale again for cheap but I want to try it… i have a few in mind.
For that bass head of a friend I would show him the fostex thx 00purplehearts as a possibility can be found used for like $300 or less they are duscuntinued unfortunately but one of the most loved cans for bass around
