They are not bass monsters (= not ideal if you listen to techno, DnB, etc), but they have nice low for Jazz, Orchestral, etc.
I use mine for movies and casual gaming (and music, off course).
For 230€, I would buy them again

TL;DR You don’t need a nuclear powerplant to run 600 Ohm headphones.
Going of reviews for the DT-990 (I don’t own one), they exchange stage (compared to the K-712) for low end. Just keep in mind Beyerdynamic has a V-signature (elevated bass and treble), depending on your ears, the treble may be a problem.
