$100-$300 all rounder IEM recommendations

Been out of the IEM/headphone search for quite some time. Have the 7hz timeless and shuoer tape Pro. As the title says, I’m interested in what may be the best all rounder set currently for the price range.

I like all music types ranging from Nora en pure, Abba, twenty one pilots, AC/DC, Styx, Lupe Fiasco, John H. Clarke (acoustic guitar), Amber Rubarth, Lane 8, David Guetta, Fred again etc. I hope that gives a good mix of artists as it’s a snapshot of the artists in the mix.

What would be the best recommendations? The secondary needs that would be helpful but not deal breakers right now are comfort of the IEMs. This aspect would be considered once I have a list to go through but for now just want to have a list to begin working with.

Edit: Oh and I guess it would also be useful to know the coherency and timbre of the IEMs if possible…

timeless is still good but, I’ve been eying crinear divine as maybe a timeless upgrade, finding a tigerism octave for around $100 is pretty good as well if you want a slightly warmer timeless.

I see, so you rate the timeless still hangs around at the 200 dollar range compared to newer sets? If so I may just stick with it for longer and get a portable DAC amp that I can eq the timeless with.

Then get one of these:

Fiio Tiny
Fiio Jiezi

They both support PEQ via the Fiio web app.

What do you think of the Fiio btr17 or even apparently newer versions are coming out later this year? I like the idea of something that can do what you shared now but also can work while not physically connected to my phone.

It also has PEQ but you are essentially paying 5-10x more for it to be detached from your phone (via BT) if that is what you want then sure.

timeless still holds up to $100ish sets imo, diminishing returns above that lol.

I’ve been getting more secondhand flagships from a few years ago for $200ish than anything new in the price range.

I have a BTR15 and its a nice to have device.

Letshuoer Cadenza 4 is a fantastic performer for its price, bought mine used for 150€ but even new its a bargain. As a reference i sold my EJ07m Kinda Lava which was 500-600€ new and i prefer C4 its a gem and while great on portable sources it scales drastically on desktop gear and for me can easily compete with sets that cost twice as much!

Slight eq makes it even more versatile, its hard to beat imho

Fit and comfort is up there with the very best

Ziigaat Horizon is also very very good for its price.

As source i can recommend Hidizs AP80 Pro Max as a smol DAP which also works as bluetooth receiver and also sounds great.

Its my out and about combo and i love it!

We got a winner.

Did you compare Horizon and C4 by any chance? I did not have them at the same time unfortunately

Increase your budget to $329 or buy used within your budget and get the Softears Volume S.

I’ll give these a look for sure, I’m between the Fiio tiny B and EQing the timeless or a completely new IEM. However, the bar may be high for a new IEM (not due to the timeless but rather how I hope a new IEM would sound).

For a reference, the one headphone/IEM that I remember loving the sound of and thinking that all that was missing was a bit more bass maybe was the Sennheiser HD 660s (yeah I know it’s a headphone and they behave differently from IEMs with our hearing). Everything just sounded right to me on those headphones and I could listen to almost any genre with them without feeling like my ears get stabbed by a person’s vocals or snaps/claps in the music. Not sure if I am explaining that the best but you guys can let me know.

If there were an IEM that could capture the midrange and upper end like the HD 660s then I may just retire my search.

You may prefer Dynamic Drivers (DD), the timeless is a planar, so its pretty different.

Yeah I think so too, I had the Blon BL01 a while ago and couldn’t get over how much I enjoyed their DD sound but their fit was the worst.

Right now picking the timeless only due to the fact that I already have it and would be alright with hanging back to see if something pretty good comes out in the 200 dollar range with DD’s then since it may be my preference.

Just to put it out there, is there any DD IEM’s in my price range that may have that HD 6 series type qualities?

I have no clue, havent seen people say there is an iem like those senn hps.
