Yep, unless you are OK with never changing the desktop background and water mark on your screen saying unlicensed lol, Windows 10 will install and work 100% otherwise. Activate any time you want with a code.
Ahhh that’s awesome!
One helpful tip I’ve seen is not to activate until a day or two after you get your build done. Just in case you have any RMA issues with a mobo, you’d then have to contact MS to unregister your key to then reactivate on a the new mobo. You get a full 30d license and until the watermark appears IIRC and can just use your code then so long as you don’t lose it.
What kind of monitor should I get? 1440p or 4K capable?
I’m getting a white curved monitor but I don’t know what resolution is good for this setup?
I was considering trying to find a 1440p 240Hz white curved monitor? Would that be a good choice?
Just kinda realised how impossible that would be to find…
When bigger than 27", go 4k.
Under that, 1440p to prevent scaling issues (= text too small to read).
That sounds pretty good, I use a 3440x1440 144hz monitor myself and I also have a 240hz 1080p monitor. I prefer the higher resolution myself, but I also really like having the 144hz. I’d say 1440p 144/165hz would be a good point to look at
I’ll try to see if I can find a good white monitor that is preferably curved! :3
Any suggestions too would be great,
My computer will be compatible with g-sync right? As it has the 3 fan Gigabyte GeForce rtx 2070 8gb
Yep, and some models of Freesync will work too.
Freesync is the open source of adaptive sync and usually less expensive to implement. Nvidia has a list on their site, the higher on the list the better the implementation with your graphics card.
I’ll keep that in mind for when I upgrade!
For now I’m going to have to major downgrade and go with a £100 monitor I think until I can spend more,
Cool I’m going to upgrade to a monitor like that in the future, thanks for the help and some of the stuff for the PC arrived today, got to wait a little longer for everything else
Last two pieces (the SSD and the GPU) are due to come on Monday so expect me to send a picture of it build on Monday!
Moving onto post build- will I need to do any BIOS updates or anything like that?
I would advise to not touch the BIOS outside of configureing it.
More than one way to brick a board while flashing.
When it boots up and runs fine, leave it.
Another word of caution: The first boot will take a while, including several power cycles. Just let it do its thing.
PRo tip since your not getting officvial keys anyway go ebaylook up windows 10 pro and filter by price from cheapest you can get the same keys those kinguin sellers sell for usually less than a tenth of the price
Here’s the final build! Got a nice Corsair keyboard and mouse, just need to get myself a mousemat now!
Looks nice.
A lot of fans spinning there. Might want to flip the bottom ones arround to help the GPU with fresh air.
Congrats and good work!
